Its not turning out to be a very good week for Chris.Following his dissappointing night at the Sonys its even more bad news from Elland Road tonight ,as his beloved Leeds Utd was beaten by Millwall in the play offs,so its another year down in division 1 for them.Lets hope he has a better time away on holiday!

He is marginally less of a pillock than wireman2004. Marginally.

Still, on the plus side, Leeds are in the third tier for another season. Hopefully along side MK Dons.

Oh, they're playing tonight, aren't they. Good job I don't need to go to Asda or Ikea tonight.

I'll be honest I prefer the old Division 1-3 names, although Bradcali should have put Division 2 instead, Division 1 was the league they were trying to get promoted to.

No, Division 2 is now the Championship. League 1 has always been League 1. It used to be Division 3. League 2 used to be Division 4.

Premier League
Championship
League 1
League 2

and so on....I think.

Huh?! Why does it all have to be so confusing? Why can't it just be 1 - 999 (or whatever) Why do they have to complicate things?

There are all sorts of "non league" leagues, the Blue Square is one of them, and they are all pretty much irrelevant. Other than that its extremely easy.

Until 1992 it was:

Division 1
Division 2
Division 3
Division 4 (Line for those who don't believe me) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Football_League_Fourth_Division

With the creation of The Premiership for the 1992/3 Season it became

Division 1 > Premier League
Division 2 > Division 1
Division 3 > Division 2
Division 4 > Division 3

Then in 2004 the lower leagues were renamed again:

Premier League
Division 1 > Championship
Division 2 > League One
Division 3 > League Two

As for the (Vauxhall) Confrenence, that one has changed several times over the last 30 years but I won't bother listing that one ;)

And you all copied us cos we went from Division One and Division Two to Premier Division, First Division, Second Division in the 70s.

Or to put that another way, we don't understand what the word "Premier" means and you lot should know better.

Premier is French for first :D (I do realise you were joking with the don't understand bit before you roll your eyes ;) )

I believe in all cases the renames have all been something to do with "money", Division 1 was renamed Premier league due to (if I recall correctly) Sky snapping up the TV rights & Divisions 1-3 were renamed as Coca Cola took over sponsorship of those leagues (and of course made them sound more American!)

Sat and today are up
