The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

As has been pointed out, the rules on this particular forum prohibit that though. Its really not any quicker in practise anyway.

Oh there's no room for debate, it definitely makes him SOUND thick. The debate would be as to whether he actually is or not.

Isn't that what Topher was saying - he sounds thick, but may or may not actually be thick?

It's a good question though. Ian_k - clever wanker or simple wanker? Maybe we should start a poll.

I put this in a translator and it came back with....

"Personally I believe existing forum members should be hoping to encourage an increase in forum use by new members, not discouraging them."

To this point I would answer that I do not agree with this sentiment, and have no desire to have teenage boys posting resentful rubbish on the forum, however given the ability to have free speech and the fact my opinion counts for jack, as long as new members stick to the rules and can proffer reasoned arguments and interesting insights, as well as the odd link to games which mean I don't get any housework done, they are fine by me.

My general attitude is that new people bring new ideas and a new style to the forum (I'm still reasonably new myself), and this should be encouraged.

However one of things that I like about this place is the general consensus on the need for a clear and accurate writing style, and an appreciation of well-reasoned debate.

This seems to mean that new members quickly split into two groups: those who share these sentiments and end up posting a lot, or those who think it's pedantic bullshit. This latter group tend to find that they attract an early and reasonably intense negative response.

Ian_k, guess which group you've put yourself in?

That's where you're going wrong dear. You'll be judged by what you post - not exclusively, but over and above anything else. You'll really shouldn't need this explaining to you.

I'm sorry ed but I really don't get why your getting so worked up about it.
Fair point it maybe was bad grammar and spelling. Fair enough i hold my hands up to this, but give me a bloody break about it and get off my case about it!

You know on the show, Comedy Dave does that bad impression of an I.t geek...........To me thats seriously how your coming across to me.

Gosh, I'm coming across as an outraged IT geek. My work here is done.

Now, on a more serious note Mr. k, is it me, or is your punctuation improving the more you type? Well done you!

(Edit: By the way, I don't remember Dave doing a bad impression of an IT geek actually. He gets the piss taken out of him because he's no good with computers. Is that what you mean?)

Maybe you should check some of the previous shows, because he has done that geeky voice in the past, where he taps the keyboard, it probably isnt a frequent thing being honest, but its generally something that crops up when there on a subject.

God, I'm glad I wasn't at home today. I only exploded! :)

Welcome along Ian K, you seem to be having a baptism of fire which I may have contributed to (I'm not apologising by the way) battle it out, continue to improve and you might find we're not a bad bunch really.
