Yet again though, Nadal proves that he is equally the gentleman in victory or defeat. And given Soderling's well known general attitude of disrespect to all his opponents (and Nadal in particular on occasion), that was impressive. I always thought Nadal was a sulky, bad tempered brat - based purely on his facial expressions whilst playing. Well, you really can't judge by outward appearances can you? Couldn't be more wrong.

I've just read a snippet from the post-match press conference interview: "Defeats never make you grow but you also realise how difficult what I achieved up until now was," he said. "You need a defeat to give value to your victories." You do have to say, the man is a class act.

Laura Robson is playing in the junior event today - she's seeded 1 for that.

Yep, one set all now. Safina was tested for the first time against Victoria Azarenko, but that's largely irrelevant, as no one will beat Serena Williams if she tries. Laura Robson lost her second round match today, but it's clay which doesn't suit her as well. Robin Soderling clearly took a massive confidence boost from his match with Nadal, beating Davydenko 6-1, 6-3, 6-1. Incredible really.

I liked what Laura Robson said about clay - something along the lines of its not her favourite surface yet and she "doesn't like what it does to my socks"!

Robin Soderling through to the final... well I never. He nearly blew it from two sets up though, eventually winning 6-3, 7-5, 5-7, 4-6, 6-4. He was a break down in that final set too.

Anyway... Federer v Del Potro now, come on the Argie!

I don't want to support Federer in the final and now that Soderling is through, I will be forced to do so because I don't like Soderling... really, though, I want Nadal to complete his career slam before Federer.

I meant to say that I will be forced to do so if Federer gets through to the final, which of course I have predicted against. Del Potro a break to the good in the first.

You absolutely can never write Federer off, but one of these days (and I thought that would be it), these younger players at about world number five and six are going to start beating him. People fear him... and having beaten Nadal, Soderling may not tomorrow, but time will tell.

Good to see Murray win today, but he never looks like he cares about the win. That man needs to get some emotion, the lifeless wreck.

He played well for the little bit of the match that I saw, but you'd expect him to beat James Blake. One week until Wimbledon then!

Could someone answer me why it was only 2 sets? I thought mens was always at least 3 even if player was down by 2 sets?? Isn't it women have to win by 2, men by 3?

That's only in Grand Slam tournaments (of which there are four - Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open) - apart from that it's best of three sets for both men and women.

He did play well throughout the tournament, but you can only play as well as your opponent lets you... his competition wasn't really strong by the standards of a world number three. We'll see, he is capable of doing well at Wimbledon and I can't see him failing to get to the semis, but I don't think he'll be winning it.

I thought Blake played pretty well actually. If he'd cut out the unforced errors he might even have beaten Murray.

Wimbledon will be a totally different story though. The other three of the top four will be there for a start, and they know all about winning slams. Until Murray does, there will always be doubts. And even when he does, you'll tend to fancy Nadal and Federer before him. More so Federer actually, with Nadal's knees and Roger coming in with the pressure off after his win at Roland Garros. Not to mention his previous five in a row before last year!

Yeah, I might stick a couple of quid of Federer to win Wimbledon actually.

Laura Robson drawn against former world number five and current world number 33, Daniela Hantuchova in the main draw - no chance, but she needs those sort of matches now I think. I assume she's also entered the junior draw, but I'm not certain.

Murray in Nadal's half, but it depends if Nadal pulls out... I was thinking that he won't, but I'm not so sure now.

Even if he doesn't, he will be carrying a bad injury, so I wouldn't back him.

Hantuchova is an excellent draw for Robson. She could get a set off her.
