Well the article might be doctored, but the fact is unfortunately all too real.

That's one type of bias the BBC could get away with I reckon. It's so depressing that so many people have voted for them; the Americans elect Barack Obama, we elect fat Hitler. Alright, it's hardly being elected to Prime Minister, but that so many people in this country are willing to vote for these vile cretinous scumbags is absolutely appalling. It's so shameful. One small crumb of comfort appears to come from the fact that they actually got less votes than before; it's just voter apathy that allowed them in.. but stats and percentages aside, it's still a shameful result.

If anyone is in any doubt as to the intentions of the BNP (I know he thankfully doesn't come here any more, but if he did happen to stumble upon this page, Markool89 would do well to read through it), Tim Ireland of Bloggerheads has invited bloggers to look through the BNPs policies and and 'fisk' them. I can't adequately put into words the contempt that these people deserve. As I read this morning, now that Nick Griffin has been elected to Brussels, he's effectively a migrant worker himself!

I don't for a moment think that everyone who voted BNP are racist... but those who aren't are stupid and gullible to not be able to see past the fact that they're just a bunch of racist thugs.

Mixed feelings for me - I was thankful that they haven't attracted any new voters, but the end result is still the wrong one regardless.

I gritted my teeth and read through their policies last week. Very, very scary.

Apparently Nick Griffin was on Radio 4 this morning complaining about the fact that Friar Tuck is played by a black actor in the BBC Robin Hood series.

Also, if anyone is inclined, there is a petition - you have to take a photo of yourself holding a sign saying 'not in my name' though. Also, if anyone is interested in the background of the other BNP scumbag who got elected (Andrew Brons his name is), there is a little piece on him here.

I don't think that the BBC can get away with any kind of bias, being publicly funded as they are, and I'm not actually sure I'd want them to, even against the BNP. It might encourage some of those gullible idiots to start forming conspiracy theories and end up supporting the BNP even more.

True, I wasn't being totally serious when I said that, but decent impartial reporting on the BNP can still show them up for the racists that they are without actually explicitly saying so.

Signed. The picture is optional, though.

Ah, I didn't realise.

I agree with you Topher, me & my Brother were discussing this last night, he said the fact that they got 2 seats shows how "dim" some of the voting public can be. Some obviosuly voted BNP as a protest vote, however if anything they would have been better voting Green or an Independent as a protest vote.

The problem with UKIP as an alternative is that they want to get us out of Europe, however in the current climate that is the worst possible thing we could do. We need the EU for trade for a start, and as has been proved time & time again, alot of these so called "new laws" created by the EU actually turn out to be false & created by our wonder tabloids as usual.

I just hope that the other countries in the EU Parliment don't think that the majority of us believe in the BNP's policies.

Not really. That kind of protest is just playing right into the BNPs hands. Its exactly the kind of response they are hoping for.

Yes, because everyone is going to suddenly say 'Awww, the poor BNP got egged, the little lambs. They must be speaking the truth!'

I doubt it :D

No - its far more that Nick Griffin can now legitimately say that his views and presence is being supressed by thuggery and violence, and if you don't think a significant number of people will listen and be influenced by that you are incredibly naive.

Maybe it could be arranged for Griffin to have an unfortunate accident under the wheels of a bus. Nice and anonymous. Are there any buses running in London at the moment? If one had to be specially put on it might look a bit conspicuous...
#389678
The alternative you suggest though Yuds...simply ignore the BNP...that isn't likely to work! They won't just give up and walk away from politics, people need to stand up and voice their opposition at every opportunity.

Surprised noone has had a pop at Griffin yet by the way Ed. Shame all the peaceful, loving people get killed (Kennedy brothers, Luther King, Lennon, etc.) and the utter bastards don't.
#389681
I cried when I read that The BNP had got two seats, it saddens me deeply that people are so disinterested in politics that they wouldn't take the time to research a manifesto or simply google their policies. No one I've spoken to has any idea about their repatriation policy, for example.

The only silver lining I can see is that eventually Nick Griffin and Co will do something so utterly offensive that it can't be ignored.

The results re-enforce my belief that a large majority of the British public are simply morons, which is exactly why, imo, we shouldn't have a general election at the moment.

Whilst I agree with the sentiment, don't forget that they didn't actually receive a greater number of votes than last time, it was just not enough people voting for the mainstream parties. At least that's my understanding of it, but there are plenty of people on here who know more about it than me.

However I did read their policies on their website, so be assured that at least someone has. * scary as well. I felt so ashamed after I did it I actually deleted the site out of my internet history, even though it was my own computer. Irrational but true.
#389686
I agree, voter apathy always shocks me. It doesn't make it any more depressing that anyone is voting for them at all though.

I don't blame you for deleting your history, just reading about them makes me feel dirty.

The BNP won the council election in Coalville, which is disturbingly close to where I live, Leicester. It sickens me.

I can see why they got voted in there though. Coalville is a former mining town, with high unemployment, and a largely white working class population, with few immigrants. The perfect combination for the BNP to swoop in with their lies.
