I'm sure that you can't write to a file on a server using client side JS.

You'll have to use CGI, PHP or whatever.

You need to use ASP. You'll need to write an ASP page which contains the form you wish to use for data collection. You'll need to store the database on the server making sure you can write to the file as well as read from it. Then you'll need to connect to it (I use ADODB). You'll need to write a routine which creates a record set from the data entered into the form and updates the database.

For more info I'd suggest visiting http://www.w3schools.com and reading up on ADODB, vbscript, SQL and ASP where you should find some useful info. Also, a visit to http://groups.google.com can pay dividends as someone will have had the same problems you're bound to come up against.
