I thought I would start a topic about the things that people do, either people you know or strangers, that bug you.

Example - I was just waiting for the lift at work, I was on the 6th floor going to the 1st floor and a women was also waiting, she was there before me and the down button was already on. I waited about 15 seconds and she went up to it and pressed it about 6 or 7 times, quite hard as well. WHY? the lift has ready been called, the light is on. is pressing the button AGAIN going to speed the lift up? The light is on get some * patients (sp?)!

Ok, our big office laser printer here - all the trays are labeled (A4 normal, A4 card, A3 normal, A3 card etc). It always defaults to A4 normal, but my boss, who's never really got his head around selecting a different tray (it's set up so you choose it by tray, not by paper type) will, for instance, take a a few sheets of card from the card tray, put them into the default tray, THEN print. I've typed a list with the tray numbers and stuck it on his wall, i've shown him how to select the trays LOADS of times, but he still does it that way! He says 'I can't be arsed faffing around with settings'...

Bless him.

I always seem to get stuck behind that person in a long supermarket queue who eventually makes it to the till, carefully takes each item individually out of their over-laden trolley, waits for the cashier to ring to it all through and tell them how much it all comes to, and only then decides its time to start fishing around for their purse / wallet so they can pay. Why??!!!

People who think they are better than others.
For instance, I work for the NHS and was attending an appointment at one of our buildings which has its own car park. On this particular day there was a funeral for a serviceman (is that what we call them??) so there was a lot of army presence and thus lots of press/police etc.
Our car park was coned off but still had a few cars in so I wound down my window and asked a nice looking lady if as an NHS employee I could still use the car park. She looked at me in disgust almost, and said "well we're in the army and we're not even allowed to park in there". This would be good and well if we were at an army barracks, but we weren't, we were outside an NHS building so if anyone should have been able to park there I would think it would be me over her. I didn't think of her as a nice lady after this.

When in a queue, the person behind you stands very close, and when you move forward they insist on making the exact same distance, so the gap is still too small. For * sake people, you old * men mainly, standing on my heals will not get you served any quicker.

Edd Agreed, the same in Pubs, they know the price, they stand for ages, but only get the money out when they are asked fo it... stupid, you * old men you are.

Spitting agreed, disgusting.

I kind of know what you mean, but isn't there a contradiction there?

No not at all. I'm not saying I'm better than her. I'm saying that the car park is designated for users of that particular building therefore if it was being closed off for whatever reason, not forgetting the key point that some cars were still being allowed in, surely those cars should be the ones of people using the building. Being in the army doesn't mean she has automatic right of way in every location which is what she was suggesting with her comment.

People who assume that because they have a child in a pushchair that they automatically have right of way on every pavement in the world.

People who assume that because they have a child with them they can disrupt any and all situations they find themselves in because of course THEIR child can't possibly be expected to behave itself......

Drivers who indicate that they are leaving a roundabout and then don't, they actually meant that they were leaving at the exit AFTER the one they actually indicated they were going to leave at..........tits.

Another thing that people do at work - read what I am typing in my emails or on a forum. I was typing an email the other day and someone next to me was blatantly reading what I was typing. How Rude! What it got to do with him? Nothing!

Yep - my ex had the same problem.

Oooh deja vu! hehe.

I'm with Yuds, theres a roundabout near Cambridge city centre and several times now the car in front of me has stayed on the right as the road widens on the approach to the roundabout. As I am going straight on I naturally start to head to the left hand side, which is when they decide they want to be on that side to and so cut across in front! Pick a lane and stay in it!!

The thing with roundabouts that annoys me is at mini roundabouts, people all of a sudden forget what the highway code is and/or which side is their right. They'll just stop at the roundabout when there is nothing to their right but there is a car to their left so even though they have the right of way, they just sit there. Grr.....

Also people who put there indicators on on a mini roundabout to try and show they are going straight over. If you're not indicating, its fair to assume that you are going straight over

There is a roundabout in Crawley which bugs me, its a dual carriageway way leading to it, left is is a normal road, straight over is a dual carriageway way and right is a normal road. Since when do you go right from the left hand lane? a lot people do that as the queue is shorter, but if they are next to me I will try to get away before them and then start moving over to take the turn, even if I haven't finished passing. they will soon brake! Makes me feel a bit better also! And if they hit my, its not my fault. They were in the wrong lane, and it's not my car so I don't give a monkeys!

Whilst you are correct that you shouldn't indicate when going straight over a mini roundabout, it's never fair to assume anything on the road apart from that the others around you are all arseholes.

Ooh several for me (puts on grumpy old git hat) ;)

Spitting, see now considering that we have a Swine Flu outbreak you'd think people would spit less, but no, the * who live near me keep * spitting everywhere, stupid *

People who won't help you out, even if they know what to do, because "it's not their job to do it", bloody morons

People who turn on their cars, sit in it & rev it for half an hour before they drive off, this is especially annoying in the summer!

LB Redbridge - Don't get me started (for legal reasons more than anything)

Also agree with the others in here.

Cyclists who, rather than signal, so we all know what they want to do and will accomodate them, just dither around in the middle of the road and end up stopping at the side to cross over rather than just turn right (for instance). Cyclists who don't understand how to cycle on the public highway correctly shouldn't be allowed to do so. And before you bleeding heart brigade get going, bad cycling causes far more accidents to cyclists than bad driving does. Bearing in mind that none of them ever seem to want to give any indication as to what their intentions are, its surprising more of them don't get squashed really.

Oh, and while we are on cyclists - anyone who isn't a professional cyclist who wears "professional" type cycling gear. Lets face it, most of the people you see wobbling around on bikes really shouldn't be going anywhere near lycra at the best of times.

The thing is those people might be disabled or something, just cos they don't look it doesn't mean they aren't...

anyway...people who, when waiting to board a bus, train or tram, try to push their way on as soon as the doors open, rather than standing aside to allow the people getting off to get out the doors. SO RUDE. It's just lack of manners in general really - we live in a 'me me me' culture these days, and good manners are dying out, which horrifies me. Half the stuff I see kids do with their parents in attendance allowing it to happen, my mother would slap me round the head for (even now).

Haha, I like that. My dad is (or was) one of these, but in his defence, he wasn't wobbling around on his bike, he actually did take it quite seriously. He's still in your category though.

Michael McIntyre covered this in Live at the Apollo. "Londoners have the unique ability to let people off the Tube first, whilst at all times moving forward."

charlalottie wrote:I hate cyclists in general but those who ... decide they are better off cycling in the road rather than using the cycle path right next to them make me very angry.

There are cycle paths all over Milton Keynes called Redways and they are a great idea.. in theory. Unfortunately, in practise, they - our particular cycle paths anyway - are badly lit, covered in glass (depending on the area you're cycling in), have overgrown thorny bushes to either side and are so windy that it's impossible to get anywhere quick. Consequently, they're not bad for a day time leisurely ride (in the places that don't tend to get broken glass), but it's far quicker to go on the roads if you just want to get from A to B.

It's quite a nice ride in some places though, especially when you go past some of the old stations that Beeching closed.

I was very nearly hit by a guy recently who, as I was approaching a T junction was turning right into the road I was in and took the 'racing line' across my lane. He didn't see me at first, then swerved sharply and glared at me as he drove past

Exactly Toph.

They spent a fortune buying land and connecting the Tamar Valley Cycle Path to the one that goes to Bude, and to do this they built a lovely new path in the fields at the side of the road, there were underpasses, new walls, new hedges, etc, all to keep the cyclists safe......But the muscled bound 45 year olds still insist on using Roads and forcing motorists to cross over solid white lines into the path of oncoming traffic, whilst they gently roll down the hill two abrest, tying to work out whoose dick locks best in the shorts.

Twats!

See now this is a typical bleeding heart cyclist - causes his own accident (or near as dammit) by plain BAD cycling and then behaves as though its the motorists fault.

And Boboff reminds me of my (hopefully) final Cyclist Peeve - when they ride two abreast. Its against the law to do that, tools! Read the * highway code!!!!

Ok, here are a couple of really anal ones.

People who say "would you like a cup of tea?" and then give you a cup or a mug that's barely half full. Top it up for goodness sake, why not?! My mum is even worse than me, she very scathingly refers to it as a "middle-class cup of tea", a very damning insult from her!

Also, people who when making sandwiches or toast don't spread the butter all the way to the edges of the bread. It really really REALLY annoys me!

Sat and today are up
