The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Just a thought:

The BBC has been yet again accused of ageism. But this time discriminating against a younger audience. The night with the chris moyles show is for students recieving their a-level results for the first time however it is for 18 year olds only. Complaints have been made as some students are forced to drop a year due to circumstances out of their control. This means that they are getting their results first time around but are now 19. Similarly some students gain a year and take their A-levels early making them 17 and also not eligable. This is partly being put down to Radio 1 digging for the younger end of their target demographic however this should be considered ageist which is against BBC policy. The BBC is yet to respond.

Soo, is this an actual media report or are you just playing at being a newspaper reporter?

Anyone who levelled that accusation on those grounds would be an idiot.

To whom?

Surely the fact that 17 yr olds aren't allowed in is not due to the BBC but, er, licensing law?...

Also, people who drop back a year usually do so cos they failed the first time round (obviously excluding a minority who do so cos of illness or family circumstances), so that kinda was in their control.

Is this an odd, non-funny joke on the part of the OP? :?

I thought they were being serious and this was the reason why today's show isn't up on the iplayer, then I realised no show's from today on any BBC national station are on the iplayer. So now I'm wondering what the heck the OP is on about and what the heck is up with the iplayer... :|

Erm, yeah...... The BBC are yet to respond to who?!

There will always be something going on you can't participate in due to various restrictions. Get over it.

Look can we clear something up?
parody number 9 - Is that a direct quote from something (the bad spelling would make me think otherwise) or are you just trying to stoke some imaginary fire? I can see no news reports anywhere on this other from this thread.

Who gives a flying Hoot anyway?

If you're a thicko and had to resit or a brainy twat and took them early, you won't get Chris anyway, so stop moaning, just accept as throughout the rest of your sad lives you will be destined to watch from the peripheries of life, feeling remote and jealous of all the normal sexy people, just content yourself that you will either a)be able to live the rest of your lives on benefits, whilst they all toil to give you money to spend on Baccy and White Cider or b) you will invent Microsoft.

Not at all, have a great time! And good luck with the results.

Whilst the sensationalist post that started this thread is rediculous, I do think I would be a bit aggrieved if I was getting my A Level results this year and wanted to go this. My birthday is at the end of August, meaning that when I got my results, I was still 17 so would have been ruled out of this. Slightly harsh for anyone in Bristol that is in a similar situation to what I would have been in.

What because under 17's can't go?

Well considering you're saying how responsible the BBC should & shouldn't be, the problem is that although the BBC can't control 17 year olds there's no doubt some little * who is under 17 (not saying under 17's are * but lets be honest there's * in every generation) getting absolutely smashed & then questions will be asked in the Daily Heil as to how the "evil" BBC have abused their powers & let an underage drinker, blah, blah, blah!

They just don't want the bad press, although I don't get the whole over 18 thing though, even Chris seemed rather bemused by that ruling.

When and where is the Bristol karaoke? I missed that bit.

Oh, and ageist? I appreciate it would be a pain for fans out of the age bracket but again, it's the licensing laws. Anyone under the age of 17 is supposed to wait till they turn 18 to go to pubs etc. Otherwise whats the point in licensing laws?
