The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

We have been asked by BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the BBC, to remove the song parodies from chrismoyles.net. A parody album will be released in the coming months and understandably they wish you to purchase their CD rather than downloading the clips from here for free.

This was kind of expected does this involve all of the parodies ? As surely after it is released then the parodies not used can be replaced right ?

Not really, "technically" it was "illegal" to host them on here in the first place anyway if you want to go down that route of argument.

I don't like the song parodies and I wont be buying the CD, its the one and only thing I don't like about the show, everything else I like.

Interesting, how comes you're not a fan of the parodies?

I must echo this. The parodies get a smile when I first hear them, but would I buy an album full of them to listen to over and again? Nup :D

The problem with the parodies is that when you're taking the piss you need a strong musical backing and unfortunately Chris' voice just isn't up to scratch to pull that off. Like English Bob, the first time I hear one it gets a smile, but I too am out.

I'm going to buy a copy, there's several that I think are great & have listened to some of them several times actually (The Boy Does Plenty, Lorry Driver, The Ballad Of Tesco, Goodbye Mr M, No Hair for example)

Is this going to be a CD release or "iTunes exclusive"?

Why? You're taking the piss, you're not trying to seriously get to the top of the charts.

"Lorry Driver" is brilliant. I think some of Chris/Dave's parody lyrics are much much better than Weird Al's. He sells a few records with no discernible musical talent of his own, why can't Moyles?

Weird Al does actually write his own songs as well as doing parodies. Some are in the style of a particular artist rather than actually a direct parody of one particular song.

Yes. They aren't very good though. Well I should rephrase that - I don't like them.

I like the Avril Lavigne parody he did. Constipated I think it was called.

Well the ones that are best in my opinion are the ones which when you hear the original you always sing the the parody.

Dave's "This in an Arse Face" rather than Arms race always does it, as does lorry driver, and more recently "won't eat meat again" from JLS is cool.

I don't think much of Weird All, Kevin Bloody Wilson is much better!

"Oh the local Doc likes little boys bums, and the local cops a , well I say, the local cops a numpty"

Classic.

Chris, I have downloaded a few of these over the years, do you need them back?

I'm still wondering if I need to edit them out of any future show uploads to the archive? Considering the tapes are in a bad state & they normally talk over half of them I assume this isn't a problem???

I'd downloaded a fair few of the parodies, but I'm not sure if I would spend my money on an album of them. After all, jokes tend to become less funny the more often you hear them. I love Weird Al and I do think he's a talented songwriter, but I only listen to his stuff occasionally cos the same principle applies - the jokes wear thin.

No, it won't be an issue.
