Johnny 1985 won last weeks game, so he chose this week's year. This week it's 1985!

As per usual, pick a song you like from the chosen year...post a youtube video of it if possible. All the nominations get put into a poll on Wednesday, and we vote for the favourite.

Get nominating!

 I seem to have changed my name to Johnny 1985 according to English Bob, oh well closer to my real year I suppose ;)

My choice for 1985, a tough year with many, many excellent tracks, however I have gone for an all time classic:

Enjoy :)

EDIT: You may want to turn it down a tad, the person who uploaded the video uploaded it a tad too loud

This was a good year. Very difficult choice indeed. I think, in order demonstrate to those who have only heard the awful DJ Sammy version that this is a good song, I choose Don Henley's Boys of Summer (and yes, I know the video clip says 1984 but it was a hit in the UK in '85. Got to no. 12 I believe).

What are the rules regarding the years, actually? Does it have to been the year of release, or does it just have to have been in the charts in the year in question?

I have always taken it to mean a song which was in the UK top 40 in that year. Release dates are sometimes a bit foggy and its not always easy to find an accurate one. Surely we are talking about records in the chart of the year?

As 'Don't You Forget About Me' was already taken, I'm going for this:

There Must Be An Angel, Eurythmics

I have no idea if the video's any good, but I love the song, and especially the Stevie Wonder bit at the end.

UB40 - I Got You Babe (featuring Chrissie Hynde I believe). Can't post YouTube link as it's blocked at work, but I am sure that the majority of people know that song

Wikipedia is probably better actually as they're more than likely to have "hits" that missed the top 40.

Bloody hell this is a tough year isn't it, so much good music & oddly enough considering I was only 2 in 1985 I can remember a lot of these tunes being played quite regularly. Then again we did have Capital Radio on in the house quite a lot back then, so that would explain why :)

Ah, that's quite a memorable day, probably the reason why there was so many great hits as well for this year seeing as several groups probably saw the event as an opportunity to showcase some new material.

There was a website somewhere, where you can find out what was the number 1 track when you where born. I think mine was Paul Young's "Wherever I lay my hat, that's my home", what a lovely track

Yeah I can imagine it was a very memorable day. Mum wasn't too pleased as she missed it on the TV because of moi. Believe Ultravox were the artist performing at the exact time.

Yeah mine was Sister Sledge's Frankie.

"Frankie" is definately better that "Wherever I lay my hat..." in my opinion :)

One week we should have a poll where everyone names their birthday number one and we all vote for the best.

Although anyone born before before the UK singles chart began (1947 according to everyhit.com, although I'm sure I've read elsewhere it was 1952) may feel a bit left out. ;)

By the way, where does your username come from if you were 2 in 1985?
