Does Aled (or anyone else for that matter) know if I need permission off an unsigned band to play their material in a podcast?
I'm having trouble getting the bands to actually reply to me (you would think a bit of free promotion would be something they'd like yes?)

I've tried doing a Google but can't seem to find anything other than Coca Cola being sued by an unsigned band for using their material in an advert without permission but I'm assuming that was more to do with it being used for profit making purposes.

You must get their permission. Any work you use whether it's a picture, music or film needs the permission of the person that made it. It's down to them unfortunately whether they see it as worthwhile promotion not you

It's unlikely you'd be sued unless you were making money - but then again that would be down to them. If they were registered with PRS or you paid PRS for use of music in your podcast would make it okay because there was an agreement, but it sounds as though neither of those are in place.

So, sadly my advice would have to be, don't use it.

Because it was a six week trial, as was very heavily publicised before it started. That means that it is going to last six weeks. After one week, there are only five weeks more of it left - you get it? Well, after six weeks, there are NO weeks left, so the trial was finished.
