Good News everyone

The PC is fixed & I'll be back editing the tapes this week :)

Now, I just need to know, is there anything better than Audacity, which is free to download? Audacity does the job but unfortunately has a nasty habit of jumping when copying over, a couple of the shows I copied over I will need to re-record a few of the links. One of them jumps several seconds, for some strange reason.

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

You'll be pleased then, I have ten recorded, waiting to be edited, although two need a couple of links re-recorded unfortunately. As for your request of a particular show, I haven't heard anything yet unfortunately.

I've also got a few of JamieC21's Mark & Lard shows to edit as well actually, I forgot that I hadn't edit them to be honest, also the breakfast show from 2004, which was the Euro 2004 special, when Noel Gallagher was the special guest.

Normally I put a Mini Disc on, press record & come back to it several hours later (I have to time it though, with Afternoon Shows being 2hrs 45mins & earlier shows being 3hrs 5mins, it sometimes gets confusing). With tape cassettes I usually put on one side, go upstairs and watch a DVD & check about 40 minutes in, to make sure I change the tape over in time, it does however get a bit tiresome though when you have to keep pausing a movie, for example, to run downstairs & wait 5-8 minutes (depending on manufacturer of the cassette) before changing the side over (the auto change over thing doesn't work that well in my old walkman, I need to pick up a new one for cheap really) & giving it a minute or two to make sure that it's all running OK.

However I have to be in the mood (especially with tapes) so sometimes I don't record any for a while, however I have enough to edit to make sure I don't run out for a while :)

smileymongoose1988 wrote:wow, u must have too much time on your hands XD hehe, by the way, do you have full interviews that chris has done with celebrities? and features they used to do? :?

xx

Actually I only ever get a chance to do them once I get in from work (in at 6:20ish most days) & most of the time I'm knackered, so only get a chance to record one, every so often. I was a having a quite period so got a chance to record quite a few at once (normally I only do 3 every two weeks, so ten in a space of a week is quite a lot for me) however at the moment I haven't had chance to record any, what with the computer crashing etc.

Several of the shows that have been edited & uploaded on here have complete interviews (or mostly complete interviews, bar a tape change over or tape cut off, if the interview carried past 5:30pm, when the shows ran from 4:00pm-5:45pm, I used to use a 90 minute tape, the last 15 minutes was mostly songs anyway, a lot of the time).

If you got to Page 17 & scroll down to the 10th/11th post you'll be able to find a much easier to read list than the one on page 1 (I plan to change the one on page 1 to this format in the near future, with the info in a separate "click here" link. So far there's interviews with (in chronological order): Rick Witter from Shed Seven (on one of the 1998 shows, not sure which at the mo) "Nasty" Nick Bateman from Big Brother 1 (no longer famous ), Carol Vorderman, Ricky Tomlinson, Holly Valence, Jimmy Carr & Steve Guttenberg (from Police Academy) at present. The Mark & Lard shows also have several guests as well. There's also interviews on the sound vault which has a lot of the more recent interviews see link below:

Hope that helps :)

No problem & thanks, yeah I just saw that image in the site & that caption instantly came to mind

I agree it was great with him, once he left it fell to pieces.

Oh forgot to mention that one of the shows I'm yet to edit features an interview with JK from Jamiroquai, and it's fun little interview, he comes across as a really nice, down to Earth guy and it sounds more like a group of mates chatting rather than a proper interview, but is all the better for it in my opinion. :)

Expect to see that one up soon :)

well i saw that you put up a steve guttenberg interview, will give it a listen after ive listened to his show from this morning with lily allen, not quite sure what to make of her :?, i know and i can't believe they redecorated the whole studio and the presenters weren't as great... i wonder how old he is? i want to adopt him as my grandad or great grandad

god, JK! what has happened to him? haven't heard anything from him in a while... although he did some very catchy songs back in the day 8) i thought he seemed stuck up his own arse :?...but will have a look for the interview and give it a listen :D i like to be proven wrong ;)

Apologies all, the iPod issue was a lot worse than I thought, some songs had not only duplicated but triplicate & in some case quadrilated (if that's a word). It took me all bank holiday weekend to sort the bastard out and unfortunately resulted in me running out of time for editing. Not only that, there's something been added to the PC which I'm not too sure about to be honest, it may interfere with Audacity so I just need to do a couple of quick checks to see if it does.

Otherwise, I shall try my best to upload at least one show tonight or tomorrow night for you all, I can't do any this weekend as I'm away and won't be near the PC unfortunately.

Anyway big apologies again, I hope to have something at least for you all in the next 36 hours at least :)

I shall be uploading at least one show tonight, the one that will definitely be going up tonight will be:

Monday 21st February 2000 - JK From Jamiroquai pops in for a chat, for the majority of the show, which is a surprisingly good episode IMO

Up in the next few hours :)

I have several that JamieC21 provided that I'm yet to edit, I may do one tonight or next week, I'm going to edit one more Chris Moyles show tonight at least, although it probably won't be uploaded until tomorrow morning :)

The Jamiroquai one is uploading to Internet Archive now, check back in about 15-30 minutes, it should be ready by then :)

UPDATE AT LAST!!!!

It's nearly been a month since last time but here we are, a new update PLEASE NOTE: Show is from 2000, not 2001, which I originally stated in the paragraph below in error, earlier on  :):

Date: Monday 21st February 2000
Team: Chris, Dave, Melinda & Rhys with Carloyn Atkinson & Bob Ballard reading the news & sport and special guest JK from Jamiroquai
Completion Status: Virtually complete, last 12-15 minutes missing, however JK interview is virtually complete, save for 20 seconds in the middle.
Uploaded By: Johnny 1989
Edited By: Johnny 1989
Info: Highlights include:
* JK from Jamiroquai pops in for a chat, unlike usual interviews this one is more like a chat between mates, at this point JK was engaged to Denise Van Outen
* Viaduct with a caller & JK, who proves to be rubbish at the quiz
Download: Right click, save

Hopefully one more tomorrow. All files listed on first post on Page 1 or near the bottom of Page 17, the first post will be greatly improved in the near future, hopefully.

Right I've just edited a show from Monday 20th November 2000 (first half only), I shall upload it tomorrow. It features the one off (sort of, apparently they did it all this week) game "Who Want's To Be A Music Square?" throughout most of it but nearer the end Will does his first balls up (first I know of, this is the earliest recording I have of Will on the show) which leads to Chris, Dave & Melinda all having a go at him.

I just need to give it a quick check over & will let you know if there are any sound problems with it tomorrow morning, if there are any at all.

As promised, one more show this morning

Date: Monday 20th November 2000
Team: Chris, Dave, Melinda & Will
Completion Status: Virtually complete, last 12-15 minutes missing

Info: Highlights include:
* Who Wants To Be A Music Square - Rather self explanitory
* Chris has a go at Will for his first * up (this is the earliest Will show I've got)

Enjoy

I'm away for a few days so there won't be any more updates until next week, sorry.

Hope those last two shows downloaded OK, I'll be recording a few more during this week & will edit them & upload as soon as I can. Apologies for the lack of updates, as always but I hope to have a few more up soon :)

New update, better late than never :)

A full show (minus a few tape change overs) from Friday 4th May 2001, details below. By the way, the link with Trevor Nelson was one of those effected by the tape change over, I slightly edited it to make it sound better, you may just notice the edit ;)

Date: Friday 4th May 2001
Team: Chris, Dave, Lizzie, Will & Jon Culshaw with Carolyn Atkinson & Andrew Carter on Newsbeat and Trevor Nelson pops in for a few seconds (unfortunately partially missing)
Completion Status: Complete
Uploaded By: Johnny 1989
Edited By: Johnny 1989
Info: Highlights include:
* Dave's apperance on Liquid News is discussed (it should be pointed out that at this point Chris doesn't seem to be that big a fan of Christopher Price as he would later become, when he payed tribute to him after his untimely death, as captured on the Tuesday 23rd April 2002 show, in this archive (near the end of that show)
* Old clips & jingles of Will & Jon from the early 90's on other Radio stations, the clip of Jon is of him as a DJ 8O
* A trailer for the Scott Mills Sale
* Two prank phone calls, one of Shaggy phoning up a Taxi rank & one of Tony Blair phoning up Tower Records
* The "May The Fourth" gag is played out for over an hour (cut down due to music trims of course)
* A mini row breaks out between Dave & Lizzie, with Dave calling Lizzie a slapper, who wins, listen to find out :)
* Jon sings "we're loving it, loving it, loving it" in a wide range of voices
* "Special" remix of Artful Dodgers "Re-rewind", which I have left in there as Chris plays lots of sound effects over it, only left in as it shows what Chris used to do when he got bored of a song, or was waiting for the show to wrap up
* This is also the first show to use the Fatboy Slim "Weapon Of Choice" bed (for you geeks, sorry dedicated fans, who like to make notes of those sort of things) ;)

More soon :)

No probs Jamie, whenever you're ready & got your computer fixed just let me know, don't feel you have to rush yourself though :)

Anyway there's a new show posted for you to enjoy :)

thanks for another classic moyles show johnny!

Johnny 1989 wrote:It was only when I started to listen to Moyles again in late 2005 & went back on the Radio 1 website that I realised that they had both left, and it wasn't until I listened back to the single show of theirs that I recorded back in 2001 that I realised that Radio 1 had really lost something unique.

any chance you could find out the said mark & lard show for upload sometime?

Oh yeah, I meant to edit & upload that one ages ago didn't I, especially seeing as the Moyles show from the same date was edited & uploaded ages ago. I'll make that my next show to edit & possibly one other Mark & Lard or Moyles show (the Mark & Lard shows are actually easier to edit than Moyles as Mark & The Boy Lard don't talk over songs or play silly sound effects to the extent that Chris did.
