What he means is "none on my doorstep". Because of course they can easily cover every part of the UK in four nights, any fool knows that.

I registered this morning, but the web site was playing up at the time and I ended up getting two confirmation emails. So when I don't get to go to the Glasgow one, I'll know there's a good chance I got disqualified for filling the form in more than once.

Having said that, it's the same night as Scotland play Holland at Hampden. So you never know. I mean, this is the only time Scotland get to play a good team for the next year and a bit after all.

I live in Newcastle, so Glasgow is around 95 miles away and Leeds is around 75? miles away. I'm not fussed about the distance to be honest. I just think it's typical that the BBC or who ever organised this or things like this always seem to think "Well, we need to include the 'North' so we'll put in Leeds or Manchester". Contrary to popular belief, England doesn't end with Yorkshire and Lancashire! It's like theres a big gap between civilisation and Scotland, and when people think of the North East they just see it as the place where they speak funny and that Ant & Dec are from there. You'd think that the idea of the Home Counties being superior would have dissappeared over the last, oh I don't know, 400 years???

I know this isn't really relevant (ie. I'm going off on one), but I was talking to some Londoner on Xbox live a few weeks ago. He actually thought that Birmingham was in the 'North', and that the 'North' is full of farmers and everyone that lives in the 'North' is poor. A quick look at a map would show that Birmingham is not even halfway up the country, and a history or geography lesson would show that most of England's farms are in the South.

And although I really like Chris, he doesn't help change the opinion of the average thick Southerner by doing those ridiculous Geordie accents.

Have you just thought perhaps that maybe Chris may have wanted to visit his home town by any chance?

Can't beleive the tour isn't coming to Northern Ireland, always get left out over here and the excuses this morning were poor, as was said on the show, its a hour or so to NI on a ferry from Scotland so how Aled could say there was no time to get everything set up baffles me, surely it takes longer than an hour to get to Cardiff etc driving. Really poor to leave out Northern Ireland when your doing a tour of the UK and should it not have been sorted out the start to accomdate us, we do a pay a licence fee and listen to the show too.

There was the Big Weekend in Sunderland in May 2005, and I'm pretty sure Chris did his show from Newcastle as part of the Red Nose Rally.

I love it when the team attempt Geordie accents!

Attempt is the right word! I'm sure I would laugh if I was from somewhere else. But I don't think people from Bristol or Norwich are thick and grew up on council estates.

I must be missing something - I dont understand the Bristol or Norwich comment. Explain for me please? As for "attempt" I've heard far worse Geordie accents on "Inspector George Gently" It's all just a bit of fun really.

Having a quick scout around the Radio 1 website i've found that over the past few years the team and show have visited a whole range of towns and cities across the UK, including Hull, Swindon, Bristol, Milton Keynes, Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Newquay, Plymouth, Stoke, Maidstone, Sunderland, Belfast, Cardiff, Brighton, Preston, Loughborough, Glasgow, Swansea, Bournemouth, and Doncaster.

I guess this highlights the range and number of OBs they've done, and also the limited long distance trips they've made to the North, Scotland, and NI. However, none of these regions have been ignored entirely, even if their last visit was a number of years ago. Plot those towns and cities on a map and I don't think they've done a bad job. How many OBs did Cox or Ball do in their time on breakfast?

I was just giving an example of two cities with distinctive accents without going for the obvious ones.

Me too. and with this tour, no matter which 4 places were picked, someone would be unhappy.

No-one could have complained though if the 4 countries in the UK which the Chris Moyles Show broadcasts were covered in the tour i.e Belfast,London,Cardiff and Edinbrugh for example, however Northern Ireland has been left out as usual.

You saying "as usual" isn't true. The most recent Rallyoke included Belfast and the Big Weekend in 2004 was held in Derry. It may not be as often as you'd like, but NI hasn't been ignored. Taking NI's surface area as a proportion of entire UK i'm sure it's had a fair share. Are you saying that every fourth OB should be in NI?

Rallyoake was 2 and a half years ago while One Big Weekend in Londonderry was 5 years ago, now I appreciate that Northern Ireland is minute compared to England and certanly agree with you that the One Big Weekend of course should'nt be here every 4 years. All I'm saying is that Chris has been round the rest of the UK to the best of my knowledge and also New York a few times each since they were last here. A lot of listeners over here are very disappointed that the show is'nt coming here on its UK tour, now I know a lot of people in England, Scotland and Wales will say they disappointed too that it s not coming to a place close to them but at least its coming to your country, while we're the only part of the UK left out. Just feel that it should be been made sure that it was a full UK tour and everyone was included and the tour should have been arranged that all 4 countries could be included. I see no reason that they could'nt come here and again I found Aled's excuses quite flimsey and could have been got around if they really wanted.

Chris was pissed off not to be going to Northern Ireland, did you not hear him talking about it? Apparently there were a few reasons for it, all upheld by Executive Producer Piers Bradford, who made the decision not to go there.

I'm sorry you felt my reasons were flimsy. I can assure you our first framework was to have 1 in each country. Unfortunately logistically the ferry times didn't accommodate ending a show in one of the other countries, getting the tour bus across and in time to start rigging the karaoke at the venue that same afternoon.

Hey Aled - could you clear one other thing up for me?
On the website it states that you'll "be broadcasting from five different locations around the country". As 4 cities does not equate to 5 different locations - where else will you be doing the show from (presumably on the Monday)?
(apologies if you've said this on the show - I haven't listened to the last couple of shows yet)
