So, it's ironic?

joelkennedy wrote:I don't believe in out right advertising

Which is lucky, because advertising is banned by the Forum & Posting Rules (specifically relating to competing sites, although a Facebook page may be a stretch of the term), so you won't be upset by me de-linking your site.

joelkennedy wrote:[I] thought that if Chris [...] wanted to take part in the Facebook page and become an Admin to post news articles be my guest.

Other than to mask your outright advertising (which you don't believe in), what is the purpose of this line? I don't believe that you believe that Chris Harris would seriously consider such an offer. For starters, it's not like it's particularly difficult to create a Facebook page, there's enough of the damn things to prove that, but he already has this site - why double post the information as opposed to having a single repository for the information?

As a more general point, what is with all these Facebook fan-pages? Are free webhosting sites and web-designer talents that lacking now-a-days?

Ok 'Console', Thanks for linking the old Chris Moyles podcasts - I listen to them quite a bit, but thats the only thing i'm going to thank you for. This is supposed to be a friendly forum and I do not agree with you pretty much insulting me with my post. I can quite clearly see your point, so i'm going to clear your doubts - oh and please don't quote lines of my text, it gets quite patronising.

Firstly, even though there is no money involved, I found a 'gap in the market' as it were. There was a page for 'The Chris Moyles Show', but not for Chris Moyles personally. The BBC would not post things about is career on there which did not involve Radio 1.

Secondly, when I say 'Out right advertising', I mean I have a purpose for linking the site - to inform. Now, many people use Facebook as you know so as I'm sure (by the number of fans on the page) that they like the page. The purpose for linking here is so that people who use Facebook may enjoy the benefits of news directly on their social networking site.

Finally, this was a generous offer to him just so that if he wanted, he could post to an even wider audience. It would also be good for the page as there would be more information available.

Thank you for your concern, and hope that I have addressed your quibbles.

I don't agree... while there are no 'pages' specifically named 'Chris Moyles', there are several about him. A quick search revealed the following (albeit some if not all of them sound like they were started by complete morons):

  • Chris Moyles and Team
  • we love chris moyles
  • Chris Moyles for Prime Minister
  • Mr Chris Moyles should never be sacked, Radio 1 Rocks

While you may think yours is different to these, it basically seems to serve the same purpose.

Notice that like you said that most if not all were started by morons. They haven't been posting up to date news, just a place to express your interest. The Facebook page I have created is for people who are actually interested in receiving news about him.

Ah, but that's what you can use this site for!

Indeed! I have been using this site before I joined the forum for a long time before, but like I said in the post in response to Console, it is for users to get up to date information on their social networking site. Mainly for users that wouldn't usually come to this site.

This is supposed to be a Chris Moyles' fans forum.

joelkennedy wrote:please don't quote lines of my text, it gets quite patronising.

Patronising? That is a shame.

joelkennedy wrote:There was a page for 'The Chris Moyles Show', but not for Chris Moyles personally.

Given Facebook's reputation for having groups and pages on everything + 1 I quite doubt that.

joelkennedy wrote:The purpose for linking here is so that people who use Facebook may enjoy the benefits of news directly on their social networking site.

You mean as opposed to directly on the frontpage of their Chris Moyles fansite or directly in their favourite 'RSS Reader'

joelkennedy wrote:Finally, this was a generous offer to him just so that if he wanted

Genuine offer?

joelkennedy wrote:he could post to an even wider audience.

The benefit of that being? I don't think that Chris Harris is running this site for fame.

joelkennedy wrote:It would also be good for the page as there would be more information available.

So, it'd be good for your Facebook page, but how would it be good for Chris Harris or this site?

joelkennedy wrote:Thank you for your concern

Not a problem, I assure you.

joelkennedy wrote:hope that I have addressed your quibbles.

Hope away.

It is friendly, but friendliness and discernment aren't mutually exclusive you know.
joelkennedy wrote:and I do not agree with you pretty much insulting me with my post. I can quite clearly see your point,

So in fact you can't really disagree with the insults can you?
joelkennedy wrote:oh and please don't quote lines of my text, it gets quite patronising.

Not at all, the quote function is a way of enabling us to address specific parts of a post in order to respond accurately. We can all quite happily patronise you without it.
joelkennedy wrote:Thank you for your concern,

Where did you think you saw evidence of any concern?

You're fun.
