Championees, championees, ole ole ole! In your face doubters and naysayers!

Well done Chris and all the team, I for one am delighted for you. Here's to extending the record for a good while yet! I want double figures at least! ;-)

It's a fantastic achievement, especially given the Radio 1's penchant for chopping and changing people around every so often. Well done ladies and gents.

Excellent show today, though I only switched on at 8 being the lazy student that I am. Did anyone notice how well Chris is looking in the pictures and video in the articles on the BBC news site?
Bit annoyed at Terry for choosing today to announce that he's leaving breakfast, especially as that is the most read article on the BBC News site, with Chris in 3rd and 8th or something.
Anyway, well done team!

Congrats to Chris and the team. :D

I'll be listening again later, and not only the parts I missed. Loved Jag Skills as always. He must be a real fan.

The Jaguar Skills last half hour was brilliant, but it was a great show from the first breakfast 2009 history remix ("he's even climbed a mountain" had me in hysterics before I made it to the shower!) to the chat with Tony Blackburn, to the surprisingly good new Cheryl Cole song (I thought it'd be crap but I quite liked it) through to Tedious Link's Greatest DJ.

They obviously worked extra to get today's show to be brilliant and it paid off. I'm looking forward to the rest of this week.

I'm pleased for them all as well, listening back to a couple of the old Afternoon & Saturday shows from the early 2000's I'd never had imagined that Chris & Dave would have got the breakfast show, let alone the longest ever running breakfast show on Radio 1. Not that there was anything wrong with the show back in 2000-2002 but considering how near the knuckle the show used to be back then, although I forget we didn't have all those tossers complaining about everything & anything.

Anyway congratulations team, here's hoping you're around for at least 3 more years.

To be fair to Wogan he didn't chose today. It was meant to be announced in a couple of weeks but the Daily Telegraph broke the story this morning and so the BBC brought the official announcement forward

Congratulations team, long may you all continue!

I was only listening to the show in the background today as it was my little girl's first day at nursery so I was busy getting her ready, but I shall pop it on the iPlayer later whilst cooking and listen to it leisurely.

Excellent Jaguar Skills, a bit disappointed Julliet was'nt heard in any of it, was the best at sports for me, Carey just reads it so fast you cant keep up, whats the rush slow down woman. As for Cheryl Cole's single, utter crap, so excellent if your 14 years old or younger just like Girls Aloud are.

Agreed. And hasn't anyone noticed her singing voice isn't all that good?

Shame really, she seems to have been sort of "forgotten about" (much like Lizzie & Melinda these days, although to be fair Melinda left 9 years ago this year & Lizzie 7 years this October, I think).

However it may be an Archive Issue, I don't know if Aled can answer this, but do "non-special shows" (i.e. those that aren't a celebratory show like a Birthday show, anniversary show or a "out of studio special" such as World Cup 2006, New York Week, etc.) get deleted after so many years? I only ask this because on the last Saturday Show Comedy Dave comments that many of those shows are now "missing". Perhaps that's why Juliette didn't feature at all during the Jaguar Skills bit. I only know of three shows from 2004 on the internet myself (the first Breakfast show, an Euro 2004 which I'm yet to edit & Juliette's last show), perhaps the material is hard to get hold of? I don't know I'm only surmising
