The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Following on from the "Where's Carrie" thread, just had a wee thought.

Does the show really need a sports reader, I mean its only about 1 minute of not really important news that anyone with any interest in sport will know anyway. I for one haven't really missed her and don't think she adds anything to the show.
Dom on the other hand is an unsung hero of the show and I would love to hear more from him, esp the way Chris was winding him up this week during the sports news.

I don't have a problem with her just think she in not needed.

I think this discussion has been had before, although I can't remember what the consensus was at the end of it. I'm sure someone'll dig it out.

Personally whilst no, I don't think the show actually NEEDS a sports reporter, I like Carrie (I never used to) and think she adds a lot to the show in general terms. How the BBC rationalise having her there as a sports reporter would be interesting to know just from a geek perspective I guess (I wonder if Jono from UM knows how such things are arrived at?), but I'm glad she is there.

That was my point why pay someone to read sport. I personally don't think she is funny, but Chris makes a lot of jokes at her expense which are all good natured and she plays along and takes them all well. But I think Chris can do that with anyone. ie Matt, Aled, Dom. Which makes me ask the question again.

the sport has not been very good this week, although the delivery might be funny - the content wasn't very informative, and it couldn't be discussed.

Carrie knows a lot about sport, and comes from a sport journalism background, which is VERY different to straight news journalism - Carrie writes her own sport bulletins as well, it's not as simple as just reading it.

Also having a female sports reader is something which many people like (ferrington from days gone by, and georgie thompson from skysports as examples).

oh, and it's the format across the daytime schedule, isn't it? to have a seperate person read the sport? (not too sure on that, but i'm pretty certain)

finally, she's one of the team, and chris likes her - so why should he get rid of her.

I'm pretty sure it's Chris' choice to have a female sports reader, i think he metioned something about it in his first book.

To be honest I think we could dump Carrie and Rachel ánd Aled and still maintain the show .Carriein particular is a weak link though.Moyles future is dependent on having a minimum of 'hamgers on' ie Dave and Dom.In my opinion. I would like Aled to concentrate on the Surgery.hes a bit annoying.Rachel is just a pain in the ass.Carrie is surplus to requierement.Dave and Dom are the only real talent apart from Chris

PS apologies to Matt Fincham-I think he hould be part of the regular 'on air' team.He does add something to the show

Wrong.

Rachel is essential to the show as she helps plan the show, and keeps Chris in check when needed.

Aled should be able to focus more on the Surgery, and should maybe be given Monday off and Fincham could probably cope doing Aled's job 1 day per week.

Carrie is there primarily to read the sport (as Chappers does with Scott) and also contributes to the show with some great moments.

Dom isn't a hanger on - he is employed by the BBC, and it is their decision who reads the news. It just happens that he reads the news during the breakfast show. They pick him as he contributes to the show, and works well with Chris.

yES RACHEL IS ESSENTIAL TO THE SHOW AS A PRODUCER BUT IN MY OPINION SHE SHOULD NOT be part of the 'on air' team.Matt Fincham has more comedy potential and should replace her.,We must remember Moyles show is primarily a comedy show.certain people have an instinctive talent for comedy ie Moyles Dave Dom and Matt-the rest do not

I am only trying to make constructive suggestions. Now is the time to think of ways to strengthen the show to maintian its long term future!Chris wants to do 10 years on breakfast and I want to help him acheive that goal!

I have pretty neutral feelings on Carrie. I'm not interested in sport so I don't pay any attention to her bulletins, altho I'm sure she's very well informed and good at what she does. Apart from that, I can't say as I've missed her especially this week, but I don't actively dislike her. The same goes for Rachel really, but I wouldn't wanna see female voices eradicated from the show altogether, so I'd never advocate dumping them both. I like Aled tho, and Matt too.

Wrong, I have missed her voice on the show, I'm so used to it now that it's noticeable when she's missing. So that proves that your answer is bollocks because at least one person missed her.

No, no, no, no, NO, I sometimes wonder if you are a fan of the show or do you just deliberately troll here to be annoying and wind people up.

Time to order some cans of these I think:

They said that about the Gillette Contour, but what a revelation the Contour Plus turned out to be.

Anything more than three blades is overkill and I assume 'contour' means a twisty head to get round corners. If I can manage with a normal razor, I'm sure anyone else can.

The Armando Iannucci Show reference was a bit of a whoosher then.

I actually prefer a cutlass and whetstone - if it was good enough for pirates then why not me.

It would be for me, I never laughed at anything Armando Ianucci said or wrote, so you can guarantee that would pass me by!
