I don't believe it either. I have a BA in journalism and I wouldn't have even been allowed on the course if my writing had been so poor. I don't just mean spelling and grammar, but the basic ability to form a readable sentence. (Wireman will no doubt be along to accuse me of bullying any second now...)

Having partaken in work experience with a publishing house for my degree course, i'm aware of the difference between a trainee, and a journalist. Being a mainly freelance industry - newspapers/magazines tend to hire whoever is writing, and publish their articles.

I have a friend who writes for Rock Sound magazine, and he is 21, been writing for them for a year. No trainee period, he's just a good writer and had this recognised.

Oh well, no more than i can expect from a potentially racist, middle aged, ex policeman who enjoys trolling around fansites to incite discussion around himself because he lacks attention from the ones he craves it most from.

Inferring that racial abuse is akin to the abuse recieved while working as a policeman. A job is a choice, a skin colour is not.

Its the tone in which the word is used that makes the difference,he said it in a jovial manner not an aggressive way and although he should not have used it the whole issue was blown out of proportion.
