The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Depends what happens to Chris... If he is on alternate station doing same hours, i'll be happy whoever goes onto R1 as I won't be listening to them anyway!

Not if Moyles was an option, no. But given that we are speculating about what will happen when he is no longer an option, I would say yes, I'm sure most of us could think of someone we'd be happy with in that seat.

According to todays Daily Mail its Vernon Kay who will get the job .Maybe next year(other papers report Vernon is moving to the USA next year).I think we have to get used to th is constant speculation about Moyles future in the press from now on,now hes beeen doing the show for so long. Whetehr theres an y truth in it,who knows.. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/ar ... n-Kay.html

CORRECTED.

"Last night, a Radio 1 spokeswoman insisted no plans had yet been made for Moyles’ departure, nor his replacement, saying: There is absolutely no truth in this."

Look, Chris is going to leave one day, be that next year, the year after, whenever. The constant speculation on when that is going to be makes me want to rip off my own arm. When there is information regarding Chris' departure I am sure Radio 1 will see fit to let the listeners know.

I love all the comments at the bottom of that article, do people talk like that in real life?!

VoicesInMyHead wrote:Scott Mills to replace Moyles ? What has he to offer ? Not a lot ! !
The media is always going on about Moyles being to old for the flagship show on Radio 1, but isn't Mills the same age so how would that particular argument work ?

How old's Vernon for that matter? He seems to get giddy about the same kind of tunes I was into back in the day, so he must be about the same age.

VoicesInMyHead wrote:If anyone deserves praise Greg James does, he's come into he's own since been giving a top slot. I always come back to Radio 1 in the afternoons now.

I used to listen to an hour of his really early morning show, he's got the right stuff.

Delving into comments for articles on the Daily Mail web site is a dangerous thing indeed to do.

I would say theres a 60-90% probablility that Chris will leave breakfast when his contract runs out in july.Whetehr he does another slot on the station, maybe weekends or whatever,is the only question..I have a feeling he will want to make a clean break and give up radio for a year or 2 so he can focus on tv work.Clearly he has an increasing workload which hes having trouble keepinmg up with so its pretty much inevitable he'll give up the radio show next year. Also its betetr to quit while your ahead .Chris could leave radio one now with his head held high with a fairly good audience and having just beat Blackburns record. In another year or 2 things may not be nearly so rosy.if i was Chris Id announce my retirement from breakfast in May if he beats Evans in the ratings, having finally become the no 1 radio show.Th e likelihood is that Evans will then build his audience and overtake Moyles,so better to go before that happens. On the other hand if Evans is ahead from the start then I think Chris would want to admit defeat and go anyway. It would be a brilliant way to go out on if Chris was able to do some shows from t he world cup in south africa next june Imagine, the grand finale of the Chris Moyles breakfast show being the week England wins the world cup with the england team being the final guests on the show.Couldnt beat that!
Meanwhile,if Vernon did take over the show in july he might even have one or 2 team members carry on d oing it with him. After all he did do a week with dave and aled in the summer when Chris went on holiday. That could have been a dry run for for something more permanent. If Chris did a 'job swap' with Vernon and take over his saturday s how (which he used to present) he would even be able to do handovers with Jo Whiley again!

Having read these forums for a number of years without ever actually posting, I have to ask, do you make up everything you post on here? Furthermore you write as though you are inside Chris's mind or a close confidant of his. Do you know him or have any special insights on which you based your many opinions in this post?

He's a trainee journalist, therefore of course he speaks shit! In the second year of training they are taught to replace the phrase 'I have a feeling that...' to 'an insider source states that...'

Seriously? I would have thought that even a basic grasp of writing would be required to do this.

He also fails to respond to criticism, or indeed any questions about his thoughts. Ignoring him is the best option, new fella.

except to say that,if there was no truth in it whatsoever,Aled would probably have come on here to deny it totally by now.Which he hasn't

So, you truly think Aled probably would have come on here (in the last seven hours), found and read you tediously long post, somehow getting past the worryingly pointless initial sentence and felt the need to defend anything other that the English department in whatever school you went to? Dream on.

I didn't even skim it. I only read the first question.

It's interesting how long-time lurkers are increasingly coming out of the woodwork just to have a go at bradcali.

I pretty much change the channel when the early show is over, and don't turn it back till either the next morning or the weekend- get's way to pop-ish.

Some of the other's just kinda talk them selves into a hole that warrants playing a song to end the misery.

I'd miss the Moyles show- beats the crap outa listening to Howard Stern here in the States
