Is there a chance that a song of the Parody Album could enter the charts? Say one of the songs is downloaded enough times of off itunes, will it enter the chart?

I could just imagine Reggie on the Chart Show: "And a new entry at number 39, it's Chris Moyles, Camilla Ice and Calvin Harris with their hit Dance Wiv Me!"

I think there is a Christmas single planned? If so, I imagine that will chart - possibly very creditably.

I think downloads contribute to the main chart, but there's also a download chart... or iTunes have their own chart, one of the two.

I *think* that was before downloads were integrated into the main chart, but I'm not 100% on that...anyway. No reason at all why Chris can't have a chart hit - I'd say there's a good chance he will.

Correct I believe, the reason they integrated downloads into the main chart was because the sales of CD singles had dropped dramatically

Downloads used to only contribute to the chart if a CD-single version was also available to buy. Therefore popular album tracks couldn't appear in the singles chart.

However, as someone mentioned, due to a decline in CD sales any song available for download can now top the singles chart.

Yep, the download chart was totally seperate then and Chris' song was ineligible for the normal singles chart.

Also, 'Dogs Don't Kill People...' (which was novelty and download-only) had the advantage of competing with "normal" single downloads at a time when (I think) single downloads were not yet as popular as they are now.

I really hope that he'll do well with this parody album though, given all the publicity and hard work.

A link was posted on the other thread directing us to the Sony Commercial Music Group website.

And lets be honest, Chris will ensure the album is suitably publicised to all CM listeners, if half of them buy/download a copy, he'll top the charts....

What a great stocking filler though for people this christmas, I know i'll be buying multiple copies to give to people as gifts.
