Just down the path, diagonally to the left, near the palm tree...... Where is Sunny SoCal when we need her?!!

It would take Sunny about the same amount of time to get there as it would take you. America may be far away, but it is also BIG.

I know the feeling - I have a passport but no opportunity, otherwise beaches, palm trees and chilli-burgers sound very fine to me right now. I'm FREEZING!

I've really been enjoying the segments about Dave's 'willy ring' this week, which has helped to make up for the tedium of the gameing ramblings. This morning's discussion about the search for the ring made me laugh out loud, which doesn't happen much with me.

Hahaha, that's brilliant :)

But sad at the same time. Sad that so many people take themselves and everything so seriously that they need to say things like :

Um... breaking news??? Who really cares!!!! Must be a really slow day at the news desk.

That's a little too far for me to go, even for such a sweetheart as Dave.

Just before nine, Dave got an email yesterday of a bloke who'd found it - they got jewellers to speak to each other and he's "99% certain" it's his ring.

Brilliant :D

He said the jewellerer identified it to be 'old country' (sic) gold which I assume meant it came from South Africa rather than the US which Dave took as further confirmation it was his ring. Can you actually tell where the gold from a piece of jewellery comes from?

The hallmarks should tell you if you know what you're looking at.

I thought the old country bit meant England.

As in the hallmark was an English one.

I know with silver the "sterling" quality is 92.5% pure, as copper is added to make it more durable. Same with gold.

So from the hallmark I think you can tell which country (at least) it came from. If you mean being able to tell precisely where it was mined, I'm not sure - I'd guess there must be certain characteristics which would enable you to narrow it down a bit though.

08:53 for iPlayer purposes Toph.

So pleased for Dave, although shame to have to pay $200 for a silly mistake, but good to have it back, a replacement wouldn't be the same....
