Having just switched on Radio 1, I heard him mention his festive 50 which people vote for. He said that there should be no rigging/campaigns etc but I have figured out that he wouldnt know if people just sent him random ones. He says to pick your top 3 and send it to him

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/alt/johnpee ... vote.shtml

My idea is to pick some of the worst tracks from 2002 and see if he will genuinely accept them and see if they get in the chart.
If youre stuck with ideas here are some

1. Las Ketchup - The Ketchup Song
2. Will & Gareth - The Long and Winding Road
3. Rikki & Daz - Rhinestone Cowboy
4. Scooter - Logical Song
5. Jan Wayne - Because The Night
6. Chad Kroeger - Hero
7. DJ Sammy - Heaven
8. Busted - What I Go To School For
9. Romeo - Romeo Dun
10. Status Quo - Jam Side Down
11. Toploader - Time Of My Life
12. Enrique - Hero

Well I think Rikki and Daz is a must to be in the top 3.

I quite like this idea - lets get as many people as possible to send in your vote for Rikki and Daz.

He'd never accept that! I'm gonna try it though.

I'll have a go. And watch it Bob, I liked that Toploader song! I'll put two sensible ones and then Rikki and Daz, that way he's more likely to accept it.

On the subject of John Peel, I found this last night:

Ladies and Gentleman, this is the John Peel Sweet Eating Game!

How to Play

To play you will need:

  • Either a radio tuned into Radio One (97-99FM) between 10 and midnight on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, or a copy on cassette or mini-disc of a previous John Peel show. Its best to leave to pub early and play while the show is on air.
  • A whole stack of sweets of your choosing
  • A copy of these rules
  • People to play the game with (its not as much fun by yourself!
  • A bucket (for many reasons)
  • A variable speed tape deck (so you can play things at the wrong speed)
The Rules

The rules are simple - have a sweet whenever one of the following occurs:

  • John plays a record at the wrong speed
  • John plays a record that "Starts a bit quietly"
  • John starts mumbling something incomprehensible to a member of his family or his producer.
  • John reads out a request for a record, then proclaims that he doesn't have the record with him and instead, hopes that the listener will like the
track that he's about to play instead. Eat two sweets if the track is completely different to the one requested.
  • John reads out a request for a record, then proclaims that he's just popped out to his garage to get a copy then plays it (for shows broadcast from Peel Acres only)
  • John reads out a request for a record, then proclaims that he's just popped out to his garage to get a copy then plays it at the wrong speed.
  • John moans about someone messing up his microphone settings.
  • John plays a record then proclaims that he doesn't know the name of the band, the name of the song or anything else at all about the record.
  • John plays a totally obscure record that is only available from about one shop in the whole wide world.
  • John plays a totally obscure record that is only available from about one shop in the whole wide world and by writing to the band at a house in Colchester
  • John plays a totally obscure record that is only available from about one shop in the whole wide world, and its in Oslo.
  • John plays a band who he liked when he lived in America.
  • John plays a Fall record.
  • John plays a track by someone famous.
  • John plays a track by someone famous AND it is in the Top 40 that week.
  • John plays a track by the band F u c k, and attempts to say the band name casually in an attempt to make it sound like he's not actually swearing.
  • John plays a loud, noisy, three second long record that go BLUAARGH then ends abruptly.
  • Your mum walks in and says "What's this dreadful noise?"
  • Your mum walks in and says "What's this dreadful noise? It sounds like my tinnitus!"
  • The end of a record surprises him.
  • John's show ends abruptly and is replaced by the emergency DAT tape.
  • John's show ends abruptly and is replaced by the emergency DAT tape and an All Saints record plays instead.

Carry out these rules to the letter and you'll probably need to go to hospital to have your stomach pumped by half an hour into the show, as well as needing to goto the dentist for a fair few fillings. Those who want to play this game with alcohol should be advised that they too will need stomach pumps, mainly as they'll get drunk and start having cravings for kebabs. John Peel doesn't recomend that you try it with alcohol, and nor do we. This game could be lethal...

I found it here: http://www.planetbods.org (they have a good Mark & Lard section, also an interesting piece on Kevin Greening).

Then I don't think I will play, or I will end up being sick...repeatedly.

Ah but then you get use out of the near by bucket.

My favorite ones are:

John plays a record at the wrong speed

because he always does that

and

John's show ends abruptly and is replaced by the emergency DAT tape and an All Saints record plays instead.

because that would just be hilarious.
