The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Not sure how much Chris reads these forums but they get mentioned on the show so I take it he is aware of them. The reason I write is because over the last few weeks I feel I have been missing out listening to my favourite radio show, the odd hilarious link aside, I have found myself thinking Chris is forgetting his first passion, radio. I think it is really good that Chris had the album and is getting involved in charity work but when he “turns left” on his flight to Uganda can I suggest he takes his first book on board for light reading. In it he will read about a boy who strives to be a the top of the radio game who cares little for celebrities or radio executives and is 100% in tune with his audience, Fearne “Guess who I was out with” Cotton taking over from Jo seems to have had a “name dropping” effect on Chris. This came to light yet again this morning in the handover when Chris said “Those that have Fearne’s number know”, his celebrity listeners get most of his references these days. It is understandable if he feels he has fulfilled all he can with the top slot at the radio station but if that is the case it is time to let somebody else have a crack, I personally think with a little re-focus and concentration on his number one job Moyles can put Evans in the shade over the next couple of years because at the top of his game nobody comes close but the current crop of lazy links is worrying.

Well Gregg, what a well written argument.

Yes the whole section today about Dave's special offer deal was completely loaded with celebrity references and anecdotes! It spoiled the whole show for me, As for Rob Dj's Monday night Pub Quiz, it's turned into a whole name drop fest of late.

Oh how I long for the old days, when much of the show was taken up with simple things like celebrity guess who, and the like.

Also am I alone in thinking this has come as a result of a change in show producer.

Whilst Aled is better, in my opinion, than Rachel on air I think Chris's lack of respect for him, and therefore in essence the show, comes through at the minute with his constantly being late and hoping poorly structured links will pull themselves together with the help of his team.

Chris clearly respects Rachel, even jokes he is scared of her; sometimes this is a good trait in somebody who controls big personalities for a living.

Hmm. I understand this point (and it is well written for a change) but I'm not sure I agree entirely - the celeb references in the show can be a bit baffling, but I wouldn't say there are too many of them, generally.

You might be right Nicola, I am being fairly grumpy this morning and the mood just caught me to write down a few thoughts. Hopefully now the album has been released Chris's 10 hour work days will be less and he will naturally become more focused on the show again.

I miss Rachel, I think the show is better with her and Aled as a one two. My only hope is she is working on something massive for the new year which means we have that to look forward to. It must be difficult for Aled to do the Surgery as the "Star" and then have to produce for Chris the rest of the week.

Rocka I know what you mean. I wouldn't say I'm becoming bored of the show, just 'less amused'. Too much of the shoulder rubbing with the celebs.

Right... so taking a week off (out of a whole year) to travel to Uganda to see how Radio 1's audience generous donations is being spent is Chris doing a U turn.

He rips Celebs to pieces nearly every day.

I think what you are trying to say is it was better in the GOOD OLD DAYS.

Ah some things never change.

Can I point out I don't choose the music! The songs are playlisted and we're given a running order from the Music Team.

It's the same music as when Rachel was early producer.

Constantly being late?

He was never late when Rachel was "head" producer?

I think the show goes through phases, this is a phase.

Equally I find Rachel shrieking at Chris to play a song, or that it's time for the news to be REALLY annoying.

I prefer the show with Aled as producer - and I don't mean that as a slight on either of them, just a personal preference.

I agree with that, for me I'm getting tired of Aled saying "Controversial" things just to provoke text reaction, sounds so staged and scripted zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
