What would be the best way to open the London Olympic games in 2012? Baton twirlers, acrobatics, synchronized dancing? No. Britain is no good at any of these. What are we best at? and world renowned for ? MUSIC.

I propose that GARY BARLOW is given the job to organise a musical extravaganza on the opening day of the Olympics. He is the man to show the world that Britain ROCKS! Wouldn't it be just brilliant?
He would do us all proud.

Much as I dislike this kind of post (and often this kind of poster), I have to say that given the spectacle of the tour this year, this is surely a brilliant idea.

as it wouldn't be a non-profit gig, the costs of the acts would surely be phenomenal and unfaesable given the probable cost of the rest of the ceremony. and thus ends the freight train that was the campaign

I think you underestimate the value of the publicity and coverage the acts that took part would get. And the campaign is back on track.

haha, well if we're going to assume that throwing a concert of modern english artists is the most appropriate way to open the ceremony then i'm clearly wrong - i'm not saying that the line up of english artists would be embarrasing, but gary barlow doesn't have access to everyone.

Firstly it's British, and really I would like to the Irish as well Olympics.

And the simple thing is Publicity on a world stage > Money, charity, Kitkat.

The idea I would imagine would be to have it before or just after the ceremony, as a concert to mark the opening, it won't I imagine open the Olympics. That will be when the people all disappear but The Doctor and Billy sort it out and then they all come back.
