The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

I agree with the posts that say that the dynamic isn't right when Vernon is in. I really like Vernon and his Saturday show is great but the mistake they make is, as others said, trying to carry things on as normal when it is anything but.

Dave tries to take a more significant role, as does Dominic, and Vernon himself is far too quiet compared to his Saturday show when he is really quite OTT, but in a good, entertaining way. It feels as if Dom and Dave don't really know him and are almost too polite.

I really didn't want to criticise this show, but I don't think it works like this. Vernon, as a stand in on his own would be brilliant, but to bring him in to directly replace Moyles in the exact same format isn't working. It was a great idea in principle, just not in practice.

For some reason I thought I was the only one who didn't like Vernon, glad I'm not alone. And Dave is very different and I don't like it!

I know, I mean, how dare those kids in Uganda be so selfish, have they no mercy on our ears? I think all the whingers should be given Scott Mills to listen to til their ears bleed, I mean, jeez, at least I could understand it when Scott was on for a fortnight.

Annoying, isn't it. So where were you were you and your smiley every time there was (and will be) a Scott Mills thread?

Since we have a "Let's bash Scott" thread every fecking time Moyles goes away, it is unlikely that I would do what a lot of the users do and repeat their opinions of Mills... opinions we have heard a hundred times before. Chances are I would say something like "if you don't like it, switch off"... which is what I do.

What's your point?

There is a good reason why Moyles is off this time, it's not just a holiday. Someone needs to cover for the week. There's nothing to be achieved by complaining about who has taken over, so why do it?

Well, my first and less important point, which is directed generally, is that it seems it's all well and good to read/join in with complaints about a Moyles stand-in, until the day it happens to be an opinion you (again, general) disagree with... then it's "moaners" and "whingers". Opinions differ. Plus, in this case negative opinions are being expressed (constructively for the most part) on Vernon for the first time and are being jumped on within less than a page, which in my view is a world away from the pointless Mills-bashing threads which go for the most part unchallenged. (As an aside I ignored them to begin with, partly because I'm not a fan of his breakfast show either and partly because they didn't bother me until the repetitiveness got so blatant.)

My other point is that I also think this is different because, as I mentioned above, it's easy to ignore Scott as that's an entirely different show. You can miss it and won't be missing anything Chris Moyles Show-related. It's not the same at all this week as we're listening as Chris Moyles fans, and I think people are therefore entitled to express their feelings. Again, it's not anything like the endless complaints about Mills made by people who could just switch off, and the most they could really have to complain about in relation to the show they usually listen to is the use of Moyles-style jingles.

As I already indicated, I know the team can't be absent whenever Chris is. I just don't agree with the idea of Vernon as permanent Chris (as opposed to entire show) replacement, and gave my reasons why.

I don't want to make a big deal out of this. I don't like the show with Vernon instead of Chris, I've explained why, and that's it. You won't see me popping up with these same complaints every time it happens.

You seem to be taking my comment a bit personally, to be honest I hadn't read your post till you replied earlier.

If you don't want to "make a big deal out of this", you might be a bit late for that ... Image

I wasn't taking it personally, unless you count my considering the whinging/moaning reference to be a bit rich in comparison to the Mills threads, but I'm not going into that again.

I said I didn't want to make a big deal out of it in so far as that particular post was the end of it for me as it's not worthy of further discussion, it was just my opinion. I'm done now. :D

I'm glad this is Vernon's last day on the breakfast show. He has a really bad habit of taking a joke that wasn't particularly funny to start with and then repeating it for the next 15 minutes. His ability to crash the vocal on everything is frightening too, sometimes I think he does it on purpose.

It seemed like he interrupted 50 Cent on every sentence he started today. And I don't even like 50 Cent.

I wish I thought he did it on purpose, unfortunately I think its just lack of skill. But such things seem secondary in a world where most of the highest profile radio presenters are just two-bit TV celebs who need a second job.

I liked the show but there was too much music played, would have preferred more chat like what Moyles does after the news bulletins etc awww well at least it wasn't Mills standing in I turn off for his shows.

i thought he did well, very entertaining, nice to get someone who starts the newsbeat bulletins on time!, mind you, Chris has been improving on timing them, so I like both Verno and Chris

i don't know if anyone else thought that parts of the show sounded pre-recorded. Coming out of songs or at times going into songs and coming out of the news. They just seemed pre recorded to me with more mutted sound than normal.
