Ha... beat me to it as I just posted about this decade in another thread!
Okay, highlight of the decade... I can't pick. This decade has seen me graduate uni, get a job, actually get a girlfriend for the first time (took me long enough) and eventually get engaged, buy my own flat then later a house and some other stuff I probably can't remember right now. The football this decade has been a massive improvement on the 90s (Celtic had an awful 90s) - so many of my memories can point back to football. Going to the Ukraine, meeting my current fiancée for the first time on a supporters bus going to a game, going to Seville (okay, we lost, but Scottish teams don't get to European finals much and for us it was a something we hadn't done since long before I was born). So yeah, there's been so many highlights. I think the best way to put it is that I've achieved what I set out to do. I had three goals at the start of a decade - graduate and go on to get a job, move out and into my own place, and find someone I can share my life with. Tick, tick and tick. I really should set more goals at some point though.
Best film - Revenge of the Sith. We waited years for it, we had to endure to two movies that came before it, but when we finally got that "this is how Darth Vader was born" movie I really don't think it disappointed. It was brilliant and I think lives up to the other three movies very well. I'd kinda like Lucas to do the final three, but only if they were as good as Revenge of the Sith. Another Phantom Menace and he should just be shot. (Okay, harsh, but he should at least be stopped)
Best song - U2 - Beautiful Day. Right at the start of the decade, but it's one of those songs that always perks me up. Best album - Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends - Coldplay. I listen to it a hell of a lot even now, and someone pointed out to me it's been out almost two years recently. REALLY?! I still haven't tired of it. That never happens with me. Prospekt's March really did add to it too.
Biggest event of the decade - for me, see above. In the world? The September 11th attacks. Yes, a lot more people died in the boxing day tsunami, but those attacks shaped a religious war that's still going on now. And depending on how that ends, the death toll could end up being a lot more. Lets hope not.
The next decade? Well I've a 2011 wedding to look forward to. I'd quite like to see Scotland at another World Cup too, but that's probably asking too much. If they do make it, I want to be there though. I went in 2006 to see Poland and although I'm part Polish it just wasn't the same. Probably didn't help they were already out by the final group match that I went to see though! Other than that, I dunno. Like I said earlier, I've not really set any goals!
