So then... Australian Open time, Murray through without a hitch - no surprises; Nadal also through, though he was a break behind in the first at one point... in fact, his opponent was serving for the set. Be interesting to see how Rafa comes back after his injuries (which may well have been the only thing that stopped me wining my bet) last season; after a dream start, it all went downhill.

A British woman into the third round of a Grand Slam?! I know women's tennis is inconsistent at best, but that's just silly.

I know but I don't hold out too much hope for against the number 2 seed.....

I say Roddick to win the Men's tournament and Henin-Hardenne to win the Ladies

We had Andy Murray at 6/1 to win the Australian Open. I think they're terrible odds, he's never going to win!

Winner of this Murray-Nadal match for the tournament I reckon.

Nah, I still fancy Federer. I'm hearing Andy Murray played a blinder today, Nadal injury or not, so unless he can match that for another two rounds it's gonna be Grand Slam number... 16 is he up to now if he wins this?

I haven't been watching, but are both the Williams sisters through, again?

Hmmmm.....I think in true Murray style, now he's done the hard bit, he'll lose to Cilic. Happy to be proved wrong though

Justine Henin coming back was the best thing that could have happened to women's tennis.

God knows women's tennis needs something to make it worth watching. Justine Henin's backhand does that all by itself, its a thing of beauty.

Federer to win the final I think. if it was any other match i would say Murray has a good chance, his record against Federer shows that to be the case. But Murray won't beat him in a slam final, you need to be more than just a good enough tennis player to win those things.

I don't think either will win in straight sets, but if it goes to four, Murray has a chance... if it's five, I'll take Federer.

If i was required to make a prediction, I'd say 3-0 to Federer I think. I'd like it to be closer though.

Alright, three sets might be the way to go..

It was a no brainer really. How old was Federer when he started winning slams? How many has he got? How old is Andy Murray? What has he actually won? He simply isn't good enough to beat Federer in an important final - and I don't think he ever will be. He might win a slam one day (although I personally doubt it), but it won't be against Federer - nor Nadal either I reckon. They are several levels above the rest, and Murray is firmly in with the rest.

I doubt whether it'll happen, but I think Nadal needs to take a long break to rest his knees for a bit - he hasn't really had an injury-free tournament since last year's Australian Open; in the French last year, although he never mentioned it, he clearly wasn't fit. Knees are massively important in sport, particularly with the strain he puts on them - you can work through a hamstring or a thigh injury, but his knees seem shot to pieces at the moment.

Called it. Not that it was the most difficult or impressive call, but still...

Federer's ridiculously good. Federer is to Tennis what people keep telling me Phil Taylor is to Darts. Except Tennis is a real sport, and Federer makes me think "wow" where "The Power" only ever makes me think "and you're the best at this?!"

Anyway, Murray might win a slam one day. But he's either gonna have to improve to another level (unlikely at his age now), play the most perfect match of his life and for Federer to falter (like v Del Potro in the US Open), or not play Federer in the final. I think he's capable of taking Nadal or anyone else on the tour, but there's just something about Federer.

On hard court he can beat Nadal, but I'd still back a fully fit Nadal in a slam final.

I think in Australia or the US Open you'd get a good game but Murray is always capable of coming out on top. Nadal would annihilate him in the French Open. Wimbledon... who knows. I think I'd fancy Nadal ahead of Murray there, even with the home support.

Don't forget, last season Nadal won a marathon five hour Australian Open final on his least favourite suface against no lesser player than Roger Federer - who plays extremely well on that surface - with less than 24 hours rest after another marathon five hour semi-final match against Fernando Verdasco. Murray couldn't even take a set from Roger Federer when he'd had plenty of rest after his semi-final. Nadal's not fit at the moment, I think people forget just how good the man is.

Don't look now but Murray is two sets down in the first round... although Richard Gasquet is a tough first round opponent. Still, Murray could be heading for an early bath.

Usually I would support a Scot, however because he has shown such dislike of the English, even though a huge percentage of his fans are English, I really don't give a sod if he qualifies to the next round or not.

I think that's something that was massively blown out of proportion to be honest.. although I also don't care because I don't like him generally.
