The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Whats everyones opinions on her show?

I personally rush to turn over the radio when Chris plays his ending music before the hand over. I find the whole show annoying and she really does ruin the friday after a great golden hour.

I'd much prefer Sara Cox doing it as I think she isn't so self opioniated and so self obsessed.

I also think that Chris now spends far to much time mentioning Fearne in the last hour of his show as in trying to give her a 'seal of approval'

I'm the same. I listen the handover and turn off during the first song. The only exception to this is if there's someone in the Live Lounge I want to hear.

I'm not sure if I just don't get her, if I don't like her, or what it is though. What I do know is I'd rather listen to podcasts on my iPhone.

Hmm. To be honest, although I definitely prefer Sara Cox, I find Fearne inoffensive and unobtrusive really. I don't think she has enough force of personality to really have much of an impact on the show. At that time of the day you are really only going to have R1 on for background noise anyway, the presenter is less relevant than at breakfast, or at drive time when you tend to be actively listening.

I'm not a fan of Fearne or Sara Cox, I much would have prefered it to go to Greg James or Edith Bowman....

I find myself switching off within the first song of her show.

Miss Bowman's only talent appears to me to be to talk with a scottish accent.

Fearne Cotton's fairly bland and inoffensive, I've only listened a couple of times, but she seems alright in the handovers. Beyond that, she's nowhere near as annoying as Jo Whiley was.

Apart from Chris and Zane Lowe and maybe Greg James,I wouldn't listen to Radio 1 without a gun to my head.

I find all the female presenters use far too much hyperbole with large dollops of superlatives which make almost anything they say unbelievable. Really really, absolutely, unbelievably, so utterly, OMG, errr hello!, surreally unbelievable. Fearne doesn't strike me as someone with any wit but instead a talent for delivering a relentless stream of blandness. Fearnes greatest moment(s) anyone?

I thought it was really funny when Moyles said once to Fearne, ''What are you doing here, you only do 3 shows a year!''

So she can do stuff like when 'Fearne and...Peaches Geldof' where she can stand around 'grinning like a life-size robot doll that hasn't had it's brain chips inserted yet' (Copyright Charlie Brooker).

6 minutes in if anyone wants a laugh (or a weep at the state of British broadcasting)

Now some might argue there is a place for vacuous eye candy on TV but this radio!!!

She's symptomatic of the trend of getting people who aren't really 'radio' people and instead tv presenters/other celebrities e.g Emma Bunton on Heart and now Ronan Keating on Magic. Whilst on Radio 1 we've got people like Fearne, Grimshaw etc.

Moyles is probably part of dying breed especially with more and more networking on commercial stations.

Best bit of Fearne's show...the first 5 minutes i.e. the handover then it's the off switch unless I like the first song in which case R1 have me as a listener for another 3 minutes or so!

Does anyone know why she never finishes her show? Every time I hear the last 10 minutes of it she gets Greg in to have a chat about what’s coming up on his show, says bye and plays a song. Greg then comes back on after the song and back announces it, then introduces Newsbeat.

Has she got somewhere urgent she needs to be that she can't hang around for another 3 minutes to finish her own show?

I always switch over after the handover. Lauren Laverne has a new show on 6 Music at 10-1, so no competition really!

Also...ever noticed how Fearne says the exact same thing in every handover?

"MORNING! HOW ARE YOU ALL?"
"MORNING! HOWS IT GOING?"
"MORNING! HOW ARE YOU ALL?"
"MORNING! HOW ARE YOU?"

All in that same shouty voice.

She can say anything as long as she doesn't shout it every time.

Must be a remnant from her Top of the Pops days, when the presenters had to SHOUT TO BE HEARD OVER THE AUDIENCE!

Although saying that, what was Edith Bowman's excuse?

Was listening last week and heard something very subtle regarding the whole MORRNRNINNG thing.. Chris cottoned on (sorry) to it, and it was very subtle the way he seemingly 'switched her off' cos we all know she was gonna say it at that precise few seconds in time.

Then they resumed the handover which is always OK, it's neither worse or better than the Whiley handover, as long as Chris is there, anybody in the world can be on the radio.

I'm slowly learning to have my fingers ready to put them in my ears for the first 2 seconds of her 'show'. She's the radio equivalent of the cringeworthy Coronation Street theme tune. Damning - but sadly true as we're all sure she's a veerryyy nice person. Tut.

Having listened on especially to hear which pearls of wisdom would be heading Morgan Freeman's way this morning, the only conclusion I can come to is that Dom should have interviewed him and Ms Cotton should stick to interviewing vacuous fly-by-night celebrities.

Or at least have the decency to do some proper research.

8O They got Fearne Cotton to interview the legend that is Morgan Freeman 8O

What the * were they thinking, I sure Chris could have done a sensible interview with him with Dave & the rest not chipping in (I'm sure that's happened before), or as you say, get Dominic to interview him.

Fearne Cotton, Why God, Why!

Chris said it was due to the time that Morgan was available, otherwise they would have had him on the show. I guess Radio 1 didn't have much of a say over what time they could have him on.

They should have done a pre-record then. I agree, Morgan Freeman is up there with Kevin Spacey and Tom Hanks, he's absolutely brilliant... I'd have never had Fearne Cotton interviewing him.
