But they don't. They are subject to the same anti-discrimination laws as any other employer, but that doesn't compel them to employ a certain number or percentage of female/disabled/gay/whatever staff, it merely compels them to follow proper procedure and be able to demonstrate that they have employed the right person for the job without discrimination on any of those grounds. Some companies and organisation have their own policy regarding percentages of gender etc, but not many, and I'm pretty sure the BBC doesn't. I'll be seeing someone who works for them later tonight, I'll ask him to confirm that. Or maybe Aled could tell us?
