I text in and advised her that she might want to get a frigging job, instead of mooning around and wasting her parents money on a course she's never going to do anything with.

It might be a crap excuse (and to be honest, I very much agree with you, I'd love some older stuff) but it is THE official excuse they've given. Yea, they can play the odd song before '89, but I guess they think half an hour of nothing but 20+ year old stuff is too much

Bloody hell you must slit your wrists every time a current day track gets played

To be honest I'd rather they did the 80's for a change but it's there policy at the moment not to so nothing is going to change. However others enjoy the feture so why shoudl it be taken off just because you don't like it?

In all honesty, when I was more within the target audience back in the 90s and listening to the Golden Hour/Mystery Years, I don't remember having a particular longing for the 70s. Even though I did appreciate music from that time (and before) since a young age, the 80s seemed adequately far back for me at the time.

It's sad, but it's the just the way it goes.

Ideally, I think it should be any year the team want. Or maybe any year since Radio 1 has been in existence.

But if they must play music, I'd much rather it be the current golden hour choice-set than scrapping it and having more of the rubbish that's fashionable now (save a few exceptions).

I'm not sure Dom's last choice of 2009 was in target, but it *was* ace.

To be fair I only did it once & it was just by chance they read it out, wouldn't expect them to otherwise in all honesty & I don't make a habit of it at all.

I did sort of get a very loose mention on Monday regarding the "Our Dom" bit from The One Show although not by name.

I guess people do it cos it's nice to feel involved with the show. There have been a couple of times when I've been swept away with the mood and done it myself. Only about twice though, as it is ultimately a waste of money.
