The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Don't get me wrong, I have no objection to the idea of keeping 6Music, but I'm not going to slit my wrists if it goes. Its hardly a life changing matter. Its the idea that Chris Moyles - who has stated that if indeed he was paid £6.5million he would BUY 6Music in order to keep it going - is in any way connected with its demise that I find so hilarious.

The fact is that cutting 6music from the BBC's output does very little to the overall spending - sacking Moyles would do even less. It's a ridiculous notion to believe that cutting Chris would 'save 6music' because the figures just don't match. The same can be said when cutting 6music to save the BBC as a whole.

The thing that confuses many fans of 6music, including myself, is the fact that the BBC simultaneously wants the station to get most listeners, whist at the same time carve itself as a niche station. This clearly can't go hand-in-hand.

But in response to the original post and Facebook group, no matter what you think of the statement the numbers just don't add up.

As I said earlier, I don't listen to 6music, but having looked recently at what sort of music they play, it's probably more up my street than Radio 1 (Indie, Rock, guitar based, etc).

That said, I would rather listen to Chris and the gang on Radio1 with rubbish music than listen to my type of music on 6Music with some bloke in "DJ Mode".
The perfect scenario for me would be for Chris to move to 6Music (or for Radio 1 to stop broadcasting for 12 year olds "innit") :)

Whoever these people on facebook are, they are quite aware that Chris doesn't earn £6.5 million.
Jonathan Ross was always quoted as the BBC's top earner, for several years, and he didn't earn over £1 million a year as far as I can remember.
It certainly wasn't £6.5 million.

EDIT: The Sun mention his real salary in an interview linked to in another thread on this board

Haters look away now.

No, some of the people on that facebook group are lashing out because 6Music is going, and the others are just Chris haters.
The former have my sympathy (although, it's only a radio station), and the latter are just sad.

Each time one of them quote the £6.5 million figure, even though it's been proved that it was a tenth of that before the paycut, it's obvious they're not interested in the facts.

I wonder how many of them would cope with a relentless hate campaign against them, just because they do their job well.

They won't be happy until all the DJs are as mundane as the music.

At last, something from this person that makes sense.
