Ah, I wished for both Vettel to win and Hamilton to have his podium... I'm not sure what I wanted more though.

Now that was a race! Shame for Vettel (again) and Lewis, but it was exciting.

Brilliant, brilliant race, and Button actually showed Lewis up!

I think it was more a brilliant tactic to come in early than his driving though - don't get me wrong, he drove very well, Lewis drove brilliantly throughout and I'd have loved to have seen him on the podium as well, it's a shame for him.

A sixth place and points scoring finish isn't a half bad result from P11.

Tis true, but given what he could have got had he not pitted, he's understandably disappointed.

Its early days, and it bodes well for the rest of the season that he was in such a good position from an unpromising start place.

Only McLaren could get it completely right AND completely wrong in the same race.

Well done to Kubica too. Terrific result from him and Renault.

I was really excited to see Kubica on the podium. Major schadenfreude for Hamilton.

Silly question from my partner: F1 coverage on the BBC occasionally includes realtime data from a car as it is driving around the track, including speed, rpms, gear, and brake and throttle position. There's one additional red bar that curves next to the rpm bar -- what does that one represent? Any ideas?

I'm guessing from memory, but I think that indicates when the brake is pressed and how hard.

Lewis from Vettel from Rosberg from Button from Schumacher - only Friday practice so far, but Schumacher behind Nico Rosberg *again*. Early days, but he won't like it.

AnFrom McLaren's official twitter page:

"Oops, my bad."

Not really. But they have * up. Again. But on the plus side, so have Ferrari. Should make tomorrow fun!

The question is... will we get a pun about anyone from the back making their way to the front "rising again" on Easter Sunday?! I'm betting yes, it's too easy.

Storming drive by Hamilton again - and Button and the two Ferraris for that matter, but so pleased for Vettel and Red Bull.

I don't like Mercedes, but I love every time Schumacher does poorly and Rosberg has a better showing. It's akin to Schadenfreude.

Why do I dislike Hamilton?

I did like Hamilton, but he does seem a bit stroppy at the moment!

He has a somewhat irritating blandness to him on first impression, and a hint of practised plausibility perhaps. With more exposure to him I think that gives way to a genuine humility of spirit. Yes, he has all the confidence in the world, he wouldn't win anything if he didn't - but he has no air of entitlement, no assumption that he'll be granted anything by right. But that doesn't come over initially.

kendra. the red curving line on the telematey is the max rpm. so you break. the red line will stay for a few seconds. showing how hard the engine is working.

all 3 gp were not upto standard. bahrain was a bore. australia was ok. but became possessional when the track was bone dry. and malaysia. it shows when you get to the sharp end. they wouldn't get further. hamilton would of not been better than 6th. and 7th if schumi hadn't retired.

on the subject of pit stops. the fastest official pit stop is 3.9 seconds ffrom mercedes.

the dubious ride hight from rbr will eventually be outlawed.

schumi will be at the sharp end come mid season. i think he maybe faster than rosberg this weekend.

rain is possible for sundays race. so i could go for schumi win. he was 2 seconds faster than anyone when he was on track in quali for malaysia. he just wasn't on track at the best tracks time.

It wasn't a classic, but it certainly wasn't the most boring race I've ever watched.

Were you watching the same race? Australia was great!

wireman2004 wrote:and malaysia. it shows when you get to the sharp end. they wouldn't get further. hamilton would of not been better than 6th. and 7th if schumi hadn't retired.

Er, no... Lewis was sixth, which is a formidable achievement considering he started from 20th. He was up to second at one point, although admittedly that was because he hadn't pitted yet.

wireman2004 wrote:the dubious ride hight from rbr will eventually be outlawed.

Be that as it may, they have the quickest car, regardless of ride height adjustors. They would be running away with the constructors' already, had it not been for reliability problems.

wireman2004 wrote:schumi will be at the sharp end come mid season. i think he maybe faster than rosberg this weekend.

Whichever way you spin it, he's disappointed so far. Sure, he's getting quicker, but he has been consistently beaten by Rosberg and if he can't beat him in the same car, I can't see him carrying on beyond the end of the season.

I can't see him winning, rain or not.

yes. i watched every gp. australia became a possession when the track dried out. the aero doesn't allow for close racing. and until the fia sort it out. you won't see 1990's racing.

ok.lewis was upto 6th. and that it was a good achievement. but i've seen better.
schumi in japan 98 until his tyre went.
schumi. malaysia 01.
couthard. austria 98.
schumi. spa 95
these are some great examples from drivers with whome have come through the field.

how can you say schumi's return is a dissappointment. bahrain was a ease in.
australia was ok. you can't overtake on dry tyres on a damp track without going off. so that held him back.
malaysia. was readying for the pit stops when his wheel nut came off.

I assume you mean 'procession'. If not, I want to know who possesses Australia.

Regardless of whether or not you have 'seen better', 20th to sixth is one of the great drives, certainly from recent years, one that I would put into the list above as a contender with those.

Because he is consistently slower than Rosberg and that will be a shock to the system for him - I think he'll have been expecting better from almost the start. Alright, we're still only three races in, but I can see him getting frustrated.

how is it a shock to the system. michael himself has said that he isn't expecting what you and other general people expect him to achieve. he has stated himself that he is building too next year and a title push next year
