The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Just curious as to the obsession the people on this forum have with the show? Personally, everyone who knows me well knows I love Chris Moyles and are probably sick of hearing about the bloke and his show. I am also guilty of listening to almost everything on the music 4 website for his show near the start of his 2 weeks off.

I don't have an obsession with Chris or with the show. I enjoy it a lot and I like chatting to people here about it - or more often about completely unrelated things if I'm honest. But obsession? Why would you think that?

Hi Andrew

Having read some of yer posts, you seem a likely candidate for someone who may stick about. You really need to ditch the youtube clip from yer sig though. Aside from anything else I'm sure it must break a rule somewhere, but mainly cos it takes up waaaay to much space.

That said, i've seen worse mugs staring back at me on t'internet. ;)

(that was me being nice there!)

I'm not obsessed with Moyles although I have been a fan for a very long time (since 1996 when he was on Capital FM), whether this makes me his longest listening fan on here I haven't a clue (and before anyone thinks I'm bothered, I'm not ) but I'm probably one of the few left who were listening to him back in 1996 & still listening to him today, I imagine. :)

I've been listening to him since he did 'The Late Bit' on Severn Sound. Can't remember exactly when this was, but it was around 95-96. I'm not obsessed at all, I listen to him every morning on my way into work (and at work, if the bandwidth allows it) but it's not the end of the world if I miss it.

I also had both these thoughts.

Out of interest Andrew, does your fan-ness (I'm sure there's a really obvious word I need there but I can't think of it) extend beyond Chris on the radio? There is quite a diversity of opinion on here as to how effective he is on telly - what do you think?

I had this exact conversation with a mate last week. My thoughts on why his TV programs never seem to match the quality of his radio shows account to one thing - Team Dynamic. The radio show is all about the banter between a group of genuine friends who know each other very well, so it'll almost like listening in to a conversation down the pub, complete with the spontaneous random topics. The TV shows, although usually quite watchable, seem to struggle and he always seems slightly 'awkward' to me because he hasn't got that 'wall' to bounce off.

I'd agree with all of that, but I do think he's got a lot better in the last year or two. The first series of Quiz Night was pretty dire, but that was the fault of the format really - the second series has been really good. The Who Do You Think You Are documentary was very good indeed - and the Uganda documentary was a revelation in more ways than one (although perhaps its not appropriate to include that film in this discussion). I am very much looking forward to the Breakfast Show documentary.

The more telly he does, the better he gets and the more clear it seems that when the end of the Breakfast Show comes, that's where he'll go - not to another radio station. But not yet please.

Ah yes, that was before his Capital FM days, so there is someone else on here who has been listening to Moyles longer than I have then

Ditched.

I watch Chris Moyles Quiz Night on seesaw.com most of the time, and I watched the Comic Relief thing he did. He's definitely suited to radio and while i'm not bothered about actual DJing very much (y'know - mixing songs and the like) when he does it on his show on the spur of the moment, he is really good at it.

Its very easy to overlook the fact that as far as the technical side of being a radio DJ is concerned he is head and shoulders above anyone else who has been at Radio 1 for years.

Somedays I love him to bits... then somedays (not many) I cannot stand him

I'm a big fan, but I wouldn't describe myself as obsessed. Guns N' Roses and Lost I'm probably a bit obsessed with, Moyles...nah.

Hi there,

I am also new to this forum, I suppose this thread is as good a one to start in as any.

I am not obsessed in the slightest, but I do confess to my mornings not being the same when the gang are on holiday. I tried really hard to listen to Mills but I can't stand him on the radio :( Found myself scanning various stations. I ended up on a German Schlager station today. When does Chris return?

I didn't really like Moyles much to start with but after listening for a while I grew to like the show. But like ilovematt some days I can't stand him!

Cheers!

I have been listening regularly since Feb 2008 but i had heard the show before that, even as far back as Zoe Ball (when she was there which wasn't often). I Try and at least hear most of the show each day if i have enough time.

Morning sexy peeps!

I consider myself to be a big Moyles fan, but shy away from the obsessed statement. I do also bore my workmates with what Chris n team are up to.

Been listening to Chris since R1, so not as long as some, but for all of my adult life.... I used to use Chris as my alarm for getting outa bed on a saturday morning, head fragile from night before. Then i'd usually get up and spend hour or so washing my car whilst listening to 'girls going to football' etc.

Had a few years where my listening wasn't as much as it should have been, my miserable work mates at the time refused to listen to R1 and I had to endure Wogan/Bruce OAP humor for a year or so.

Been to see Chris Live a few times at various events. One of my aims to achieve before I die is to shake the mans hand and thank him for the decade+ of entertainment. Would love to have a beer with the guy....

I also echo some of the Chris TV comments, although I think his more recent stuff is a lot better than his earlier stuff, the latest series of CMQN being highly quality, Chris looking a lot more natural and relaxed now. But yeah, I think its the team Chris has around him that really makes the radio show, but, as is often prooved when Chris is in late, without him to lead the rest of the team are bobbins on their own.
