The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

The first half hour is mostly quality, but yeah today was especially good.....

The first 30 minutes is always the funniest bit of the show, however today was exceptionally brilliant, yesterday was obviously an experiment gone badly wrong & proves that not matter how much you like or dislike Moyles, technical wise he's fantastic.

Go listen again!

Contract negotations must be here!

Thanks for the tip off, its actually some of the funniest radio I can remember. The CPC and Damo and Andy George clips are priceless. The whole half hour was like some bizarre episode of the Radio 1 review show.

It was especially good today. The first half hour is always my favourite anyway, today was priceless.

Alarm goes at 6:55 (lazy sod I know), but I often listen again to the first half hour and the rest of the show during the week on iPlayer. Must give this a listen at 3:45 (when I get in)

How weird. I just came on here expecting to see a thread slating the first 30 mins! I thought it was awful and totally unfunny. Even though Moyles was joking, and I do appreciate that, it made me feel uncomfortable listening to him slate Tong, even in a jovial way. I also didn't like the caller who took it too seriously and laid into yesterdays show.

In fairness to Chris he then said that he wanted it to be light hearted. Strange how opinions differ. Before anyone criticises me, its only my opinion, I absoloutely get Chris's humour, and I adore the show.

Maybe it was just the 30 mins that went totally over my head.

I agree with all you say. I didn't find it funny either and yes I do get Moyles humour.

Pete Tong is not a comedy breakfast show host so he was out of his depth with all the jingles. But good on him for trying.

First 30mins was absolutely brilliant! I love it when Chris starts with a half hour rant, but today's was extra special, I woke up yesterday forgetting it was a bank holiday and thought Aled was on the desk again.

I also miss Annie, I forgot how irritating Cottons handovers were. Playful banter always makes better radio than some 16 year old going 28 who pretends to be weired out by harmless flirting.

Normally if any DJ who's that full of himself and his show said "We're brilliant, every brekfast show in the UK is a piss poor version of us" I'd be pissed off. But with Moyles, he so damn right to be full of himself. He's brilliant.

The Pete Tong stuff was hilarious. He had every right to be mad. Tong screwed up his show. I'd be well pissed off.

Moyles for President of the universe. woo woo bing bang boom.

I agree with one of these statements.....

When I am away from my office I get pissed off when I come back and find things that have been done in my absence haven't been done how I want them done. Multiply that by an audience of 8 million or so and I imagine you might be somewhere near what Chris must feel when something like Pete Tong happens, or, as he said, when Mills, who is contracted to do The Chris Moyles Show (not the Scott Mills Show) simply ignores the agreed format and just does his afternoon show in the morning. It must be a little more than frustrating when he works so hard to get the show right to have someone simply mess it around like that.

That's exactly what Chris was saying though. It didn't work and wasn't right for Pete Tong to have been asked to keep the show's format - he should just have done his own thing.

I can see both viewpoints but thought there were times when they seemed to take the p*** out of Pete Tong but the next moment they would be saying he was otherwise great. That doesn't really make it right. Radio 1 have to do something when Moyles isn't there but I am sure they have learned from this. TBH I wouldn't want to speak like that about Pete Tong on live on radio but it's their call.

One thing that really hacked me off was the behaviour of Dave who went completely over the top IMO with the p**** take and that completely ridiculous "laugh". Ok Chris can comment, he's clearly skilled in the technical aspects of the show. Aled is involved in production and can take over the technical parts competently. But WTF can Dave do, after how many years on the show? Sweet FA - the guy can barely speak for a few moments and bricks himself if Chris is not back at the end of a record. "Comedy" Dave you have no right to laugh at anyone matey.

Cheers!
Dave

I feel daves (of the comedy variety, not bedford) input is more than SFA..... but, each to their own.....

agreed Id like to see Dave in the studio on his own for a show, he would not have a clue what to do and would stumble over every link.

We do not know what Pete was told to do on the show, he may have been told to do all the usual things.

Last time Dave did a show on his own as emergency cover, the piss was taken on the next moyles show - as he'd even got someone else in to press the buttons.

Dave was off sick for a couple of days last year, and the show felt somewhat flat without him (they even pulled in cheggers to try and cover for him for a whole show!)

Yeah, it isnt the same without Dave. That said, I thought the show missed Dom a couple of weeks ago when he was off due to the ash fiasco. Chris is obviously numero uno but Dave and Dom are vital as well. Aled, Rachel, Carrie and Tina were/are not really missed when they arent on.
