I kind of agree, but you've always had editorials. I think if they must express an opinion, it should be in the editorials section and nowhere else - but there's no way it'll ever happen - the press are not controlled as it is. Anyway, we still have the BBC for impartial news.

I've got nae quams with a journalist saying "I think this" and "i think that" or "I want you to vote for so and so".

I do have a problem with a whole newspaper blatantly telling us that they support one person and activly slag off the others. It's wrong!

Much as we moan about the right-wing press, sometimes the others are not much better:

It's all kicking off!

Right prediction time then.

Conservatives get 20 shy of a majority, leaving them to try and use the SNP, Welsh boys and Unionists to form a government, whilst Labour and Lib Dems actually form the next Government, with help from Sien Fien, on the basis of Uniting Ireland, and PR within 6 months. Brown resigns, Clegg is PM, cabinet stays pretty much as it is under Labour. Johnson wins leader of the labour Party.

I'm all for freedom of the press... when it's used responsibly. Our press don't.

Can somebody who actually knows something about the parties policies just answer me a question because all these lib dem fanatics don't seem to have any answers.

How is their Child Tax Credit system going to work?

When I have my baby under their new rules Chris and I wouldn't get any child tax credits but instead we are supposed to benefit from the new £10,000 income tax thing....BUT how is that going to help as much as child tax credits when I will be on SMP so will not be benefitting from the £10,000 tax?

Surely I have this wrong? Because I see it as completely unfair for them to say a couple earning more then £24,000 with their wages combined earn enough to be able to support themselves with no help when nowadays women are mostly offered from work a state maternity pay.

Enlighten me please with facts and not just opinions.

Hope this helps :)

Nope - cheers, but it doesn't explain what would happen in our specific situation.

English Bob wrote:A journalist for the Independent who was investigating voting fraud was brutally attacked by a gang. Scary stuff. Interesting to read about the election fraud too, never knew it happened! http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/po ... 61464.html

That's awful, horrific.

Some of you may have seen this doing the rounds on Twitter, but... anyone - ANYONE - thinking of voting Conservative tomorrow should read this.

I am still astounded that anyone with a brain would find any of that remotely surprising. That is what they DO - at least pre-Thatcher they had some pretensions to support for "ordinary" people and were open to the idea that some people needed extra help - since then though, they don't even bother to pretend. They create wealth for the wealthy at the expense of those most in need. Its simply what they do.

I think that whilst it's not surprising, that doesn't make the experiences of the people featured any the less shocking really. And lots of people are not expecting that kind of result from a Tory government, because judging by the opinion polls, more people than just the very wealthy will be voting for them - they are still the only party with any real chance of getting an overall majority.

Apparently the worst possible reason to vote for someone is because they're not someone else, however that's what my vote's going to be based on unfortunately. I definitely won't vote Tory, so it's between Labour and the Lib Dems, so it comes down to the fact Nick Clegg isn't David Cameron or Gordown Brown.

Isn't that what every single election campaign comes down to though? "Vote for us, the other lot are bad" is pretty much every party political broadcast you ever see.

What are parties offering to a single professional woman who doesn't own their own house - oh that's right, nothing.

There's my vote!

Ah right sorry but I thought it went quite into depth in the policies but obviously not!

Almost election day, the excitement is mounting. Can't believe this country has had so much election fever!

It did go into it in some depth, but I'm too stupid to work out how it worked out for us. I emailed our local Lib Dem PPC though and he got back to me very quickly with a brief answer from his Blackberry and forwarded it on to the local party secretary who answered in more detail for me, so I'm reasonably happy.

The point is though Char is that this area is being held up as a shining example of what a Tory run constituency is like - so yes, I think we can say that at the very least this is what they WANT everywhere to look like.

Yes... but I said that I would vote for them if I got an answer I was happy with in time - and let's be honest, they're all desperate for votes.
