I understand the urge to scream "No They Aren't!!!!" every time someone says "Ah, but this lot are different from the Tories of Mrs Thatcher's era....." - but I do think we have to at least try to hope that possibly it might be even a teeny bit true. Sometimes.

I've already seen a lot of "you know they'll just bring back fox hunting/ban civil partnerships/remove the minimum wage"-type exclamations, but everytime I always think, would they really? I mean, really?

Having said that, it'll be interesting to examine the small print when the more detailed policy plan comes out in a few days' time.

Probably not for most of it (although my money is on fox hunting coming back), but I reckon if they thought they could get away with it they would.

I doubt even fox hunting (which is the absolute least important of all those things). It hardly ever happens that an incoming administration actually undoes any of the stuff they have been carping on about for years. Although having said that, whilst the Tories probably opposed the three things mentioned there (actually did they oppose the minimum wage? Can't remember) they are none of them issues that have caused any comment from the opposition since. Basically unimportant. Well, two of them are anyway.

Go to Google Image Search. Type in "David Cameron side view". The first result is taking the whole Nick Clegg partnership a little far, no?

Biggest surpise of the night was Clegg being announced as deputy, didn't expect that.

Brown did give a good leaving speech though, I'll be honest I never really disliked him, I never wanted to punch him the face when he spoke for example. Cameron however I could happily smack in the chops.

Fair enough - we're all entitled to our opinion. See what happens over the next couple of years.

Of course Jill, apologies if I seemed a bit off there, I just remember as a child in the late 80's/early 90's both my parents worked & both really struggled under the Tories, however I am (somewhat grudgingly) going to give Cleggron a go & see how they get on.

S'ok - It's quite the opposite for me because i remember my dad telling me that he was able to provide for the family with the Tories in Governement and was better off and struggled under Labour.

Cleggron - i like it. Makes me think of Transformers hehe.

Have I Got News for You was hilarious last night... I only really know Chris Addison from panel shows, but he's brilliant - he did a lot of journalist bashing, which is particularly funny when you have an Express journalist on the other team. "I don't understand why journalists can't grasp the definition of a coalition: 'those people don't seem to be on the same party, how can they be in a coalition?' Wouldn't be a coalition if they were in the same party - it would be a majority government, you thick bunch of bastards!"

Have I got News For You has just been getting better and better - most unusual really. I agree, last night was particularly brilliant. Last week was great too, slightly more slapstick with Lembit, but its good that the show can carry so many kinds of humour without losing its edge. When did it last get a BAFTA? Has it ever had a BAFTA? I think it should get a BAFTA. Tell the BAFTA people I said so.

I will be watching that - the extended version is always a lot of fun.

This could be interesting: according to Liberal Conspiracy, Ed Miliband is to launch a bid for the Labour Party leadership against his brother. I must say I prefer the younger to the elder Miliband (also, if there were eight more of them would it make a Centiband?)

Surely if you want to make a Centiband out of two Milibands you would have to divide them by 20 not add 8?

I was working on the logic that 10 millimetres = 1 centimetre.

Also, nine out of 10 people when asked for their favourite Miliband said Glen (copyright Gaspode on Facebook).

Gaspode on Facebook? I'm torn between thinking that's remarkably and uncharacteristically sociable of him, or that its a match made in heaven. One or the other.

Gaspode on Facebook is one of the best things ever. True Fact.

I had to explain the election to my family this weekend. It was not a fun task. Apparently my Dad is becoming a conservative in his old age.
