An amusing read from Charlie Brooker, but it mainly serves to remind me how much I can't stand political tribalism.

I find it rather satisfying to see him a bit lost in his (so far) unfounded desire to detest the new government. Mind you, he already has Teresa May and Nick Gibb to play with - why hasn't he?

Political tribalism was all very well and perfectly appropriate when Labour and Conservative actually still meant left wing and right wing, but since New Labour moved the Labour party from left to right and inhabited the middle ground, the Conservatives were forced to move left and occupy the same space, and the Liberal Democrats moved, if anything, further to the left than Labour, all of the boundaries have been rubbed out - the question is whether this is a good or a bad thing? Its too glib to just assume that the "melting pot" approach is desirable in politics. After all, isn't the lack of clear choices the reason we have got this shaky situation? Or is this shaky situation only shaky because we aren't used to it, and it will all be fluffy and wonderful and the rainbows will shine over Downing Street forever now?

Only time will tell, but I know where my money is going.

You never know - most people are talking about the end of New Labour and I think any new leader would be a fool to do anything but shift to the left to create a gap again.
