The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

How can you be late for your own show when you're staying in the same house that your show is being broadcast from!?!?

Being late for your own show when you have to travel across London to get there is lame enough.. but that was really lame...

Yes. Yes, yes yes and yes. Especially when everyone else had enough professionalism to get out of their pits and be there - and then they all had to make excuses for him, and agree with the excuses he was making for himself - pathetic. I'd have been telling him to get his fat finger out of his fat arse and get the * out of BED!!!!!!!! Honestly I love the man but he makes me so MAD..........!

This is what makes me wonder if the whole late thing is overplayed for comedy effect?
Surely if 15mins before the show started no one had yet seen Chris someone would have at least knocked on his door?

I imagine the comedy effect lateness will probably die out soon, Tranny Rachel did for example.

I'll be honest it doesn't really bother me, I'd rather hear Moyles broadcasting the show from his phone rather than hear Mills' "me, me, me, I'm so great" attitude that he has

Funny you should say that, I did that exact thing yesterday evening and completed the update! 'cept I wasn't late for a radio show...

To be fair it doesn't seem to effect the audience that much, they got their highest ever figure in the first quarter of 2010 so the audience must like it, or at least aren't bothered by it.

I am the audience in that section of the show - at least, I am a representative of that audience. I am here to tell you that it does bother me. It really does.

I am also the audience of that section and I am here to tell you that I cannot understand why people care so much! I really can't.

Whether anyone 'cares' or not, isnt really the point. Its The CHRIS MOYLES Show. Chris Moyles should make the effort to be there for the start of it, and not just waltz in when he feels like it because he was a little tired that morning.

True but if the majority don't care then there isn't that much of a problem is there?

It won't change if Chris doesn't see it as a problem. And being late isn't a problem if it doesn't affect other people.

The issue is that it does affect other people. The rest of the team hate it, it clearly makes Dave angry, it ruins the show not having Chris on, there really is no show without him, and that then screws it up for the 9 million listeners.

I say this as someone who was constantly late for work for my entire career...until I decided it shouldn't happen any more. After that, I changed my schedule to allow plenty of time in the morning to get everything done, and since then I've never been late for work.

It's a matter of Chris wanting to make the change. In that respect, it's a bit like admitting you're an addict...

Everyone is late sometimes, we're all human, but it is a but stupid when they're all in the same house!

1 thing I have noticed when watching the live streaming (thanks to neilt0) is that Chris is can be quite lazy when it comes to the show, yes he's great 'on the buttons' when he's on air and I do love the show, but as soon as they play a record he's gone. It's Aled that gets everything set up for the next section.

Every DJ does that. And the rest of the team also disappear when the music is on. Given that the show is 3.5 hours and they play less music than any other show on R1, that makes it the hardest working show on the station! :D

I agree. As much as I dislike lateness, I would rather listen to Chris on the phone etc if he is late than hear someone else when he's not on.

What bothers me most is that he strives to justify his lateness. If he just said " I couldn't be arsed to get up on time, sod you" I would at least have some respect for his honesty. But the fact he constantly seeks to justify his lack of professionalism and total contempt for his colleagues and listeners annoys me a lot.

The fact is Chris stayed up till after 1am playing games with Greg James (I am sure it was Greg that said this on air) and it was his choice alone.

Most people I know hate Chris Moyles and the reason they site is his arrogance. 99% of the time I disagree with them and defend him to the hilt, but his lateness is bang out of order. I frequently have to get up earlier than he does and I do it without fail. I also do it without being paid hundreds of thousands of pounds per year and I do it without hundreds of thousands*(at 06:30 I guess?) of listeners waiting for me to turn up on time.

I know Chris will be reading this thread and my post and I hope pays attention. I love Chris on the radio, obviously) and I love his show and 99% of what he does. i would consider myself to be one of his "hardcore" fans, but his attitude towards lateness and its disrespect to his friends, which is what Dave,Dom etc are and his listeners is wrong.

Chris can come up with whatever excuse he wants, but he is out of order on this issue. Rant over.

I still maintain a "dry yer eyes" point of view. There are far more important things in this life to get stressed about than when a breakfast DJ makes it on air.
