Never have been able to watch this, except for Wogan's commentary, but now he doesn't do it any more I just can't bring meself to watch it. So I have QI Series 3 on DVD on instead

I wanted Turkey, Denmark or Albania - or Belgium, I loved him. The German winner was ok, but that girl is really irritating. However her amazing legs made up for the fact that her singing - including her comedy attempt to do a "London" accent - left much to be desired. Interesting how the Eurovision Song Contest always used to be about the songwriters - the main prize of the evening was always for them, but last night not only did they get no prize, they didn't even get a mention, which was a shame because as far as I know the song was written by a couple of Britishers and it might have alleviated the (completely deserved) humiliation of the truly bland and forgettable UK entry.

I think its time to pull the plug on them. Surely there isn't any reason for us to continue bankrolling this competition when we aren't even going to try to win it? I mean we CAN win, Katrina and the Waves wasn't all that long ago, and the partisan voting was no different then than it is now - we just aren't interested it seems to me.

Our entry sounded something from the lower end of the top 40 during the 80s.

I may have misread it, but I think that it was written by Stock, Aitken, Waterman so that would make sense.

I thought the rules stated the songwriters had to be from whichever country the song was being entered by? I certainly remember that being case with the Katrina and Gina G years (neither are British). Has it changed since?

My favourites were France and Turkey, but Germany was okay. I wondered why on earth the UK gave the 12 points to Greece, until someone reminded me it could have been a pity vote.

I don't know, but the songwriters who were listed for the Germany song were Julie Frost and John Gordon. I haven't heard of them, but I'm willing to bet they aren't German. In fact I think they are American.

Where we are going wrong...

The winning german entry was number 1 in the charts in quiet a few countries. So in effect, lets just send the killers or florence to next years eurovision.

Because it was on...........and my daughter hid the remote. I actually quite liked a lot more of the songs than I usually do this year.

We had a great family night in taking the micheal, the fact we actually came last, were beaten by the butterfly ladies was hilarious.

We voted in our house 2 x France, 1 x Germany, 1 x Russia.

It was a great night of telly for us, Dr Who, Borrittos, chocolate, bottle of wine, kids dancing, taking the mick out of the judges in Mock Euro accent, what more could you ask for.

As for finding it funny we came last, well I did, most competitions of this scale as a country you would enter your best current singer / band, what did we enter? Thats right two elderly music producers idea of a 25 year old song genre, which no one really liked to start off with, and a nice looking boy, what * arrogance!

Lilly Allen should enter it next year or Paolo, or Mumford & Sons or anyone who has had any musical success in the last 18 months, where there are statistics to show that people on the continent like the music, will it happen? No, our "stars" are too affraid of the humiliation which will be inevitable.

Well winning a competition like eurovision isn't that easy as it looks to be. You need to be a sort of complete package to make a mark in here. stage presence, personality and above all a great voice are the ingredients that would ultimately take you to winning the competition.Most importantly you need the self confidence to perform in front of large number of crowd.
