What used to piss me off was that it had got to two or three times a week and he simply seemed not to care, which I found irritating in the extreme. He doesn't do that any more, he hasn't been late for ages. Accidents happen.
I didn't overly bother me either, for the very reasons you stated. I don't however accept the 'accidents happen' argument when he admitted he was awake but just fell asleep again. He should simply have just got out of bed. We all know exactly how he feels when the alarm goes off (especially those of us who frequently have to get up very early), but we just get on with it. And he could easily set two alarms, as I do.
And the reason he was so tired was because he had a late night the night before, just as he did on that infamous time in Bangor. He chooses to stay up late despite knowing how difficult he finds it to get up in the morning, and I find that unprofessional. And Chris is still routinely late, even if it is only by a few minutes.
This isnt another rant by me, by the way! Apart from his regular three and four minute lates this is a comparative one-off. I'm just making the point that both could easily be avoided if he wanted to badly enough. He handled this one well enough though and seemed genuinely apologetic, but it still shouldn't happen.
