The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Agree, Dom would add an extra dimension to the commentary.

But it was great, with random tv themes, jingles and sound effects, made a dour game very entertaining.

Moment for me was Chris saying put twentry quid on the 1-0 win... then the equaliser moments later :D

Ian if you want to I can set up a section in the archive as well so as if people miss this thread (you'd think that impossible but on some forums you'd be surprised how many times you get multiple threads on the same topic). :)

Saviour thanks for the vids most appreciated :)

Yeah Johnny1989 that would be good. Slight problem at the moment though, in that the DVD rip of the first half is 1.5GB (so the second half will be as well once it finishes), so I'm going to have to try and find a way to convert them to smaller, lower quality videos if I'm going to upload them. Anyway I'll do what I can, but to be honest you don't even need to see the match anyway, it was terrible, and they hardly referred to it anyway!

I've uploaded what I have of the video. Not much of the first half, but I got most of the second half. Be warned, it's glitchy as a mother.. Plays OK in MPC, slightly more smoothly in VLC (but at the wrong speed).

Legend thank you. 8)

Use Handbrake to compress the video.

Or rip the audio out with DVD Shrink: http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/lof ... 32854.html

Then compress it to MP3. Or send me the audio and I'll do it for ya,

freddie wrote:Chris revealed this morning that they would be commentating on lunchtime kickoffs didnt he?

Well, the BBC lunchtime matches are:
Tue 15th Jun New Zealand V Slovakia
Fri 18th Jun Germany V Serbia
Mon 21st Jun Portugal V North Korea

And as well as those, there are some on a weekend, but I doubt that Chris and Dave would do these.

It's just the Germany game, not Monday's. Or at least that's what's been announced so far, as it was so successful they might extend it.

Thanks to everyone who uploaded it on here for those of us who were at work while it was on, fantastic stuff - I'm surprised they used a Radio 1 studio for it rather than a commentary booth at TV Centre, but Chris being able to add jingles, TV themes, echo etc worked really well!

jamiec21 wrote:My recording on Freeview turned out really well, so if ianpwilliams has any problems then I'd be happy to step in with audio. Video+audio would be a different matter, but audio is fine.

Sorry I'm having trouble with the disc I recorded to. It's struggling to read the end of the disc for some reason, so I'm having to miss off the last chapter of the second half (but it's only 48 seconds anyway). So if you want to upload your audio jamiec21 then go ahead and do that. I'm trying to get the video ripped. Anyway, it looks like the video would be 1GB total. I can go as low as 500MB in Handbrake for each half, but any smaller than that and the quality really suffers. So if that's going to be the case then that's going to take some uploading...

I'm leaving the video encoding with Handbrake while I go out. So I can definitely upload the audio later today if no-one else has done it.

1GB for over 90 minutes is under "scene standard", so I don't see a problem with that.

I'm grabbing the BBC iPlayer version, and it's 1.4GB. If you (or jamiec21) can upload the audio, I'll multiplex that in with the video from this and share it.

Here's my audio at last (right-click and save-as):

Moyles and Vitty New Zealand v Slovakia World Cup Commentary

Does anyone know what the file size limit is on uploading files to Internet Archive? I might try just uploading the full 500MB first half and 500MB second half if it will let me, although I've never tried to upload anything that big before. As for the video, the quality seems good enough. The motion isn't perfect, particularly when the camera pans, but it's certainly watchable, so I'll try and get it uploaded.

I think you'll be OK, given that there's a video here that's 195GB (yes GB): http://www.archive.org/details/Sita_Sings_the_Blues

Thanks for the audio upload!
