My boss has *ed off to the Apple Store in town at lunch, has just texted me to say he's joined a 4 hour queue and won't be back today! What the *?!?!?!

Does outrage me slightly. How is that acceptable reason to take a short notice afternoon off, tis hardly a family emergency or owt!

Plus he already had an iPhone 3G anyway. I think the whole thigns daft and Apple must be laughing soooooooooooooo hard. All the hype for what is essentially a £400 mild upgrade. If Samsung asked me if i'd like to pay that figure for a few phone tweeks i'd tell 'em to * off..... Apple have a ruthless sales/promotion policy, and given i personally have added nothing to their massed wealth, bloody good for them!

I don't do Apple either. They don't make anything that I want which someone else doesn't do better.

My boss took the whole day off to get the iphone 4!

*grrr*

Apple are very clever, they trick stupid or liberal people into the "we are better than microsoft", then they trick stupid people into "we are giving you a top end, high quality phone", then they release that same phone two more times, before as DTJ said, making them by it again by adding features that other phones have been doing for 2 years!

*grrr*

I think Apple are scummier than Microsoft!

My favourite argument the "core" apple customers use is "its easy to use", that just makes you stupid!

EXACTLY!! BUY THE MAN A PINT!!!

People are queing 4-8 hours and paying £400 to get the latest iPhone, after already paying over £1k in iPhonage previously, JUST SO IT DOES WHAT MINE PHONES HAVE DONE FOR YEARS!

As someone who got up at 4.45am to watch the final Lost, I can hardly criticise anyone for taking time out of their normal routine to be a big geek. But I don't get the Apple thing either - the 'new' features of the OS4 are things that my HTC Desire can already do.

I think the argument that Apple and a lot of it's users might make is that while other phones do have similar features, Apple does them better.

Having never really used another phone, I wouldn't know, but I have played with whatever the latest HTC is and the touchscreen is still nowhere near as smooth as the iPhone. That on it's own is the decider for me between a touch phone and a non touch phone.

I downloaded the new software for my iphone last night. I haven't really used it that much since and I haven't read anything online etc about the new 'features' but all i've noticed so far is:

The wallpaper now appears behind your icons.
Your photos are linked with the map so it tells you where you were when you took the picture.
You can create folders and put your apps and stuff in there so keeps everything tidy.
You can search for messages easier.
