What annoys me most is the football governing bodies' complete refusal to allow video replays to be used by referees. Embarassingly for the referees, alot of the South African stadiums showed replays on the big screen, and the players point it out to the referee! This happened when that Australian bloke got sent off for handball I think, the players pointed to the screen, but the ref just ignored it.

*shakes head in disbelief*

I despair for football.

There's already a campaign for Uruguay to host the centenary World Cup in 2030.

And we think we've waited a long time to win it again. Poor old Uruguay, 60 years of hurt.........Come on Diego!

Even if they don't go through South Africa can be proud of itself if it reduces the cheese-eating surrender monkeys to ignominy. Come on South Africa!

I don't think I have ever met an unfriendly South African and I've worked with a fair few, so I have a bit of a soft spot for them anyway. Shame for them, but they did themselves proud.

Very happy with the results yesterday. It was a shame to see South Africa out at this stage, but at least they went out with a win. Bye bye France, won't be missing you.

Annoyingly, every pub we tried was only showing the SA v France game. I understand it involved the hosts and everything, but it was still really annoying and didn't seem very fair. We ended up just watching at my place, but still had a great time.

Uruguay are top of group A! Barbaro! :D

Brilliant to see France go out, but I would have loved South Africa to go through, although that would have been harsh on Mexico.

This is making my brain hurt -

BBC News Website wrote:If Spain beat Chile, they will go through. If the Spaniards lose, they will go out if Switzerland draw with Honduras, or if the South Americans win heavily. Spain are also out if they draw and Switzerland beat Honduras. Chile need to avoid defeat to go through. If Chile lose to Spain by a single goal, Switzerland will only qualify if they beat Honduras by at least two goals, having lost to the Chileans in their group game.

Just two words regarding group A - France lol.

England going through is a fair achievement seeing as they were plain awful in their first 2 games. Yesterday was a better performance, but it still left a lot to be desired. As soon as they come up against a good team I fear they're out unless they can pick up their performance.

i very much agree : but while it was an absolute load of tosh, (even though we out some good attacking moves together), there's still a whole world cup to go.

adopted team : Mexico

won't suffer any heartbreak there, surely

I'm now rooting for Holland for the simple reason that's who I have in the sweepstake.

We're going home, we're going home... :x

In all honesty I wasn't surprised, when I was at the Dagenham & Redbridge playoff final at Wembley, when England beat Japan 2-1 without scoring any goals themselves, I predicted then that we'd go out in the second round, sadly that came true.

Not sure who to adopt now, I always said I'd support New Zealand if they made it through, erm  So now it's a toss up between Spain & Holland, I think I'll choose Holland, they seem to like UK, the Spanish less so

GO HOLLAND!!!!!!
