You are correct; the previous longest match was (I think) six and a half hours - the final set in this lasted well over seven.

Felt sorry for Isner in his following match, he looked knackered and got humped. Still, at least he's in the history books regardless!

Federer is OUT, beaten by Thomas Berdych and we will have a new Wimbledon champion... looks like Nadal may not regain his crown either, down as he is 5-1 in the first.

I'd have to say Soderling is my favourite if he wins this (favourite to win I mean, not my favourite player).

Soderling is a mannerless twat.

Yes. I'll take the winner of this match for the tournament though.

Also - a tweet has just alerted me to the fact that "Jo-Wilfried Tsonga is the secret love child of Muhammad Ali and Gary Wilmot." I never noticed it before, but it's bloody true!

No, he's the bastard lovechild of Gary Wilmot and Denzel Washington, I can't see Ali in there at all.

Ha, true.

So pleased Nadal fought it out, he's playing better as the tournament goes on, but..... the Murray match has potential to be the match of the tournament. I think Nadal edges it slightly, but it's a tough one to call. The other semi-final is almost as fascinating; Berdych has been showing promise for some time and I'm pretty sure he's been in a good position against Federer before in a slam, but bottled it - so if this is his coming of age, it's by no means a straight forward win for Djokovic, especially as Djokovic is a bit hit and miss anyway.

I think I'm backing Nadal for the title, but only just - it's incredibly close and could be a brilliant last few matches. In any case I think the winner of Nadal v Murray will go on to win the title, but again that is by no means assured.

I can't see Murray getting close to Nadal.

I can - Murray is playing much better than he has been of late and he's much improved, but still Nadal is a formidable opponent and hasn't been beaten here since the final in 2007 (although he didn't play last year). Tough to call, but on balance I'm still going for Nadal.. and of course I hope Nadal wins because I love watching him play tennis.

I just can't see what everyone else seems to see in Murray. To me he looks nowhere even close to Federer or Nadal at their best, although I know he has a good record against Fed and has beaten Nadal once - is that right? He just doesn't have the consistency that they both seem to have, and the level of his game seems so much lower. Still, everyone else seems to think he's good enough, so I'm obviously missing something important!

I agree he is nowhere near to Federer or Nadal at their best, but neither have been at their best during these Championships which I think gives Murray the edge in the Semi. He's been a lot more versatile in this tournament as though he has been studying his opponents a lot more which has made him more prepared for their approach.

I think with the opposition left, he has a good chance of winning it this year .

I agree with pjordan2000, except I still don't think Murray has the edge. Murray has beaten Nadal twice now I think, but I believe it's both on hard court. Still, I think Nadal will win, but I don't think it'll be a straight sets win.

Its two all, from 4 matches between them apparently. He said yesterday in interview.

Murray is a good player, he has to be to be ranked 4th in the world, he is a bit grumpy, very motivated, and suffers from form peaks and troughs.

I HOPE he wins, whether he does or not is not certain, and that is what will make watching entertaining.

As far as I'm concerned he's never been anything other than firmly Scottish. Means I have no residual guilt feelings at wholeheartedly supporting Nadal.

Me and my mates had a big arguement during the week about whither we should support Murray cos he is Scottish or should get him tae * cos he is a prick.

I reckoned that I didn't give a shizzle either way.
