The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Anyone remember when his show was funny? I used to listen to him on
the bus on the way home from uni and I had to turn the radio off
sometimes he was so funny, people thought I was a gimp laughing away
to myself.

Now it's the same dull crap day in day out. We went training, we got
pissed.. yawwwn. If I wanted to listen to a bunch of middle aged
blokes telling boring stories about their night down the pub, and
perving over young girls, I'd listen to my dad and his mates. He has
no material, he puts no effort into the show, he's gone the same way
as Chris Evans. "Sports Talk", is absolutely dire. It might have been
funny the first couple of times, but he must have done it 200 times
now. He needs to get his act together or get sacked. And what exactly
IS funny about "comedy" Dave?

on the threat of getting lynched- I AGREE
moyles does need to buck his ideas up a bit.
Hoare's solution- get rid of kinder- local radio DJ who should have stayed in local radio
Some element's are funny- some aren't

it's time to drop sport talk

more comedy dave. more silly games. more runing about. wait till summer, he'll be roit. but he's lost consistancy, tis very true.

occasionally good when he does things like the office pranks stuff. i have a cd almost full of old shows. they're awesome :)some of tha saturday shows were really quite funny [ admittedly it may be the case that i've got the only four that were any good :)]. if i one day have a spare cd i'll make a copy and circulate it round. ow my head. alcopops. :x :?

Put yourself in Moyles's shoes. Why, from his point of view, would he need to put considerably more effort into the show? When he started at R1 there was always the chance he would get fired, as he had done with almost all his other stations. Thus he needed to put extra effort in to make sure he was v.funny, got high ratings and thus couldn't get fired.

From about 2000 onwards, pre-Kinder, he's gone downhill. He's reached hubris. His ratings are higher than they've ever been, everyone, celebrities, listeners all say how funny he is on the strength of his past performances, hence his ego, even for Moyles, is sky-high. He thinks he can do no wrong. R1 bosses think he can do no wrong if only because of the consistently high ratings. Hence he knows he won't be fired, no matter what he does. He's got a massive salary, the prospect of moving into tv is always there, so why change the show that drastically.

He's got everything he wants. He's taken the radio show as far as it can go - R1 is the pinnacle of British radio broadcasting. Life is sweet.

So why would he put extra effort into the show? To satisfy the braying masses of MoylesWorld?

I agree with you. All I am doing is stating a fact - his show is nowhere near as good as it used to be. Other than "Guess Who" boredom and Sport Talk there are no features or half decent links. Neither of those things require any sort of effort on his part anyway, and it's often Kinder who raises the few laughs from it. Probably in his shoes I'd do the same thing - sit back, believe the hype and accept the pay cheque. But it would be nice if he showed some respect to people who have listened for a while, and recommended his show to others, and put a bit of effort in. Anyway I think you do get the impression that his bosses have been on his back about the lack of features and links. I think he is starting to get worried, when he first started he genuinely couldn't have cared less. He sounds like Chris Evans in the last days at R1.

It may or may not be related, but Chris doesn't seem to talk to as many callers these days. Features like viaduct which involved participation with the audience always seemed to be amusing.

ALthough he has deviated from his mean - he shines out on a station full of crap presenters (mark and lard excluded honourably)
I wish the would finish the "she's/he's off the telly he'd make a good presenter" lark
Cos the answer is obviously no

Theakston back off the mic, Cox just go and die somewhere or bog off with your dj hubbie and listen to his chhhhhooons

its into the lions den tonight as nemone is on buzzcocks. and on teletext it says her name is nemone metaxis. the problem is his listeners are going up now when we think hes getting crappy. maybe we are the ones with the problem. he is on at 3 til 5:45pm so he sort of has to appeal to the masses. thats why we have endless guff about pop idol. plus ive maybe voted 50 times on the lastest poll and it still has 57% or so in favour but it looks like other ones agree with me but i wanna who actually makes up the 57% then if it isnt us.

Again, I must agree too. But rather than complaining and pointing out what is obviously wrong with the show as it is now, im going to make a suggestion.

Why dont they replace kinder with a female producer. an attractive one if possible. this would almost certainly bring some more fun into the once oh too short 3 hours.

but if there's a girly producer then chris might fancy her and flirt with her even more that he flirts with lizzie and then it would be horrible and i'd end up having to turn the radio off and then i might die :( or the producer would die instead.

I remember the Moyles show from a few years ago when I was at uni and I would always tune in every day - the features such as viaduct and the whole David the photographer saga were superb. Recently I do think he's been less funny but it wouldn't take much to get things back on track - a few new parodies and songs such as Dave's cheese song (arguably the funniest thing ever to hit radio waves anywhere) and some new features involving listeners should do it.
