so here is the state of play at 7pm.

Aled doesn't know if chris will be on air as he has responded in the ask aled section.

razorsharpe doesn't know what is happening FACT. how can someone who claims to work in the bbc know what is happening when his own producer and FRIEND doesn't know what is happening. he has even asked aled on the ask aled section whats the situation. then 5 or so posts later says he is there on tomorrow.

I am absolutely sure aled would have said too chris to text him and let him know what is happening if chris knew what was happening.

unless aled is double bluffing...

Aled is just playing along. Of course Chris will be on air tomorrow. That doesnt mean his contact is signed, but he will be on air anyway.

Having a brief read of this thread reminded me of the end this clip

http://chrismoyles.net/soundvault/pafil ... ile&id=538

So it may not be the first time he's worked out of contract (assuming that was what he meant and not just it was running out). Agree that Aled was just playing along.

I'd be fairly sure though that barring an on the spot firing or sudden resignation we'd know well in advance when the show is coming to an end.

As much as I hate to support RazorShapre, if you listen to the end of 'Where Am I' from Friday then Chris does say "We'll play again on Monday morning with someone." Admittedly it could be a guest but it would be unusual to have a guest in at 7.15.

Chris will be on air tomorrow. I'm almost certain of it but after that then I'm starting to have my dobuts. My alarm will be set for 6.30 tomorrow to find out.

Chris Moyles is set to sign a new four-year contract with the BBC as listening figures showed that the Radio 1 presenter was closing in on Terry Wogan as the nation’s most popular breakfast DJ.

Moyles, who in September will become the longest-serving breakfast host in the 42-year history of Radio 1, drew an average of 7.7 million listeners in each week of the past three months, according to figures released by the audience researcher Rajar yesterday.

The DJ’s climb of Mount Kilimanjaro for Comic Relief in March was credited with lifting his audience figures to within 80,000 of Terry Wogan’s Radio 2 show. Wogan’s audience slipped from 7.96 million listeners in January to an average of 7.78 million in the last quarter.

Moyles, 36, whose contract ends in July, has started negotiations with the BBC, which is understood to have offered him a four-year deal. It is thought that he will decide to step down from his show next year and serve the remainder of the contract on other BBC projects.

Moyles is on a £630,000 salary with the BBC and is likely to be awarded a deal in the region of £500,000 as the corporation seeks to use the recession to trim the salaries of its top stars by between 20 and 25 per cent.

The BBC also hopes that a pay cut will help to assauge the critics of the controversial presenter, who was recently criticised by Ofcom, the broadcast regulator, for mimicking the singer Will Young in a way that was regarded as likely to encourage homophobia.

Two weeks ago both Moyles and the BBC strongly denied a report that he was to be dismissed this year. Interviewed on This Morning, on ITV1, yesterday, Moyles said: “No, I’m not being sacked. Now, as you know, my contract is coming up for renewal so we’re about to enter into some very uncomfortable contract negotiations.

“So I’m trying not to go, ‘I’m staying whatever happens’, and they’re trying not to say, ‘He’s definitely going to be here’ because as soon as one of us gives in the other one can say, ‘Oh brilliant, we don’t have to pay you any more money’, or the other one goes, ‘We want loads more’.

“So we’re both trying to defend ourselves and at the same time play the game. It’s ridiculous. But the bottom line is I’m going to re-sign [a new contract] in a few weeks.”

The figures from Rajar showed that radio listening has increased to its highest level since new measurement methods were introduced in 1999. Ninety per cent of people over the age of 15, about 45.8 million, listen to the radio each week.

Coverage of Barack Obama’s first 100 days as US President led to the Today programme on Radio 4 posting a new record of 6.69 million listeners each week. The station’s overall weekly audience stands at 980,000.

Radio 2 remains the nation’s most popular radio station, with 13.46 million listeners. Radio 5 Live and its digital service 5 Live Sports Extra recorded a combined listenership of 6.32 million, an increase of 200,000 on the last quarter.
