We're currently in a period of change which is why there's different people doing different roles for a while.

Piers is back at the end of this week as Exec. Rachel is then off for a couple of weeks. Currently I am Show Producer (not "main producer" - we're both equal in producing the show), Sam is Day Producer, Matt is Assistant Producer.

Remember on The Chris Moyles Show we're producers not presenters, but due to the nature of the show the team in the studio all appear on air.

Rachel is currently due to come back as Day Producer after her holidays.

Thanks for the info Aled.

I do have a genuine question though, did Radio 1 used to have all these different types of producers back when Chris was on afternoons? I know you heard the BA & Producer on air and also heard Chris talk about the Executive Producer every so often but did they used to have a Day Producer, Assistant Producer, etc. back then or is this a more recent thing?

I should perhaps ask this in the Aled thread really.

That's what's making me wonder, from what I can remember on Afternoons there was a Broadcast Assistant (Melinda/Rachel/Lizzie/Aled), Producer (Ben/Richard/Rhys/Will/Rachel) & Executive Producer (Ben/Mick, those are the only two I can recall) there was no mention of an Assistant Producer, Day Producer, Main Producer, etc. that's what made me wonder. The Broadcast Assistant is rarely heard on air, back then they were heard quite regularly.

Cheers :)

Just another example of over-employment at the BBC......

Wouldn't last 5 minutes in the real world :)

I'm sure they could, they all work hard on the show, I think what we used to know as BA's, Producers, etc back then & what their postions entailed has changed a lot over the last ten years.

its going to be a pity to see Sam go. Her personality comes across really well on the show and she always seems ready to have a pop at Chris whenever hes misbehaving...her reaction to the Essex girls and back of cars gag this morning was priceless.

neebs wrote:Far better than Aled that's for sure.

Hey no disrespecting Aled around here!!

Yeah, rachel is coming back! That is undoubtedly the best news i've heard since 11:32. Wikkid.

I love rachel and her contribution, her west mids whine.... T'will be a welcome return. Once again i'd like to point out no problems at all with Aleds show production, but Rachels ass is waaaay nicerer. Just need to get Cazzabell back and we're rocking!

So did you fill her slot, or will you fill hers?

Or Sams Song.... funny show.

Either way, when will we know what the result of the changes are, and whats up with Dom, and is Chris renewing his contract, and if so how much did he get, will you go with him if he goes to Heart FM, and what is the rude Welsh word for Jellyfish, and does it really sound like Punt?

I've grown to like sam in the short time she's been on the show...

It's a shame that when rachael returns. We will possibly lose sam...

Show/Day Producer. Aled and Rachael.
Assistant Producer. Matt.

Where will Sam fit into the new show team. Unless Rachael takes over as maybe a assistant exec producer just under Pires... Which I haven't heard of it becoming a position...

Thought this thread needed reviving....as Sam has been on the show for quite a while now, and with the release of the new team photos, looks like she's here to stay!

So what does everyone think now? Personally I like Sam, especially now she's starting to chip in more often without needing to be asked. She does seem to be a bit off-mic though when she gets asked questions, which makes me think she doesn't sit near a mic/doesn't want to appear on-air :(

Aled has said that she doesn't want to be on air too much, which is a shame in my opinion.

Just the sound of her voice is enough for me :D I like her!

Sam is definetly a very good addition to the team and hopefully she will feel comfortable taking on a larger on air role before too long.

Accents are a very strange thing because before those show photos I had a image of her being a older version of Rachel for some reason!

From what I've heard, she clearly knows what she's doing, and hopefully, as English Bob says, she'll be here to stay with us!

After seeing the pics of sam recently, she is certainly a sexy lady, and I don't mind her essex twang....
