Was on holiday last week.Heard it for the first time today.

How has it been? anyone been ipoding it up?

As far as i could tell that absolute muppet he calls "Becky" is just a complete waste of space, an almost regular feature about a guy who doesnt speak "the one who doesnt speak" ITS BLOODY RADIO,whats the point in that?

Few funny little jokes in there, "high five" with the phone is good. But he's too camp for me. Get a new team together and ill give it another try.

Awful. That about sums it up... I set my alarm to 6:30am every morning for Moyles, and it's still the same, difference is, Mills sends me back to sleep again, before the 7am newsbeat jingle kicks in and I wake up and get out of bed!
I much prefer the banter that the first 30 mins of Moylesey's show, the randomness of it, it keeps me listening and therefore I awake properly! Mills says hello to the news presenters, hello to Becky, and then cuts into a couple of songs..... It does'nt work!
Eventually Moyles will leave Radio 1, I hate to think whats in store when that happens..........

I haven't heard it, and I'm glad. I'm not someone who hates Mills with a passion, I'd just much rather has him as one of many options in the evening instead of the only option other than no radio in the mornings...

I've settled on Johnny Vaughan at the mo, I know I know he's no Moyles or Tarrant but compared to the competition he's the best alternative in London, Mills just does nothing for me I'm afraid.

To be honest those jingles are a joke that has outstayed it's welcome. I have no problem with Scott in the morning, but it was briefly funny the first time Chris had a holiday from breakfast. 6 years later it isn't really having the same impact.

I heard him trying to suggest that the weekend was in sight this morning. That's a full TWO DAYS of work left before the weekend.

I'll be honest, I've been listening to Radio 1 in the shower (cos my shower radio is a pain in the arse to get the frequency right if it's changed and it would only annoy me on Monday) and Radio 2 on the way to work in the car. After that I don't even bothered listening at work like I normally would.

Not that Radio 2 is much better. This morning I hears Chris Evans ask a seven year old about varicose veins and if he feared anything about getting old! What the flying * is that about?!

Breakfast radio sucks donkey dick when Chris is on holiday.

Who cares?

When/if Chris leaves Radio 1, we'll still be able to listen -- I doubt he'll retire at his relatively young age, and I'm sure, whether it's on Radio 2 or on some other medium, we'll still be able to hear him.

I no longer listen to radio live at all. I get all my radio, including Chris via the internet. I grab the MP3 of the show via an iPlayer downloader and turn it in to a podcast.
That then gets played in the kitchen, car, through headphones, or even in the bathroom.

Everything else I listen to is a podcast.

Commercial radio is on its last legs. Podcasts are starting to supplant radio. There are tons of excellent podcasts out there -- I'm never short of stuff to listen to when Chris goes on holiday. I'd never resort to listening to Scott Mills just because he's on Radio 1.

Get with the times, girlfriend, this is the 90s!

Well, I actually enjoy listening live, I'm more likely to appreciate it then, whereas if I'm checking the running order I'm not gonna enjoy the show as much by just skipping to the bit that I think I might like. As always, podcasts are different to the style of the show, I rarely listen to those.

The Breakfast Show is the soundtrack to my morning routine - podcasts will never be able to replace switching the radio on and hearing something that's happening now. Even if he is on the phone......!

I'm talking about time-shifting the entire show, not the little podcast they put out each week -- I don't bother with that.

It is a good point about missing something when not listening live, but it's not a big deal for me; I fast forward through the news (and most of the music).

Podcasts and live radio are two totally different entities in my opinion. I dont see how they could supplant radio at all. Also, how do you get a radio show from iplayer on your mp3 player? Mills is so dire that I would probably listen to Moyles last two weeks of shows every morning Mills is on if I could.

I have warmed to Scott Mills in the last few months but I just cannot abide him when he fills in for Chris. I am not sure if it is just because I resent the fact Chris isn't on and therefore never give Scott a chance, or if it is because Scott's show just does not work at that time of the morning.

Or it could just be that Scott's show is a pile of cack.

... this is exactly what I have done. The fact I didn't hear the last week helped.

For those who don't know, they are on Real Radio in the North West. How anyone can listen to them is beyond me, it's dreadful local radio crap.

Most podcasts are different from radio, that is true.
However, the biggest podcast worldwide is The Adam Carolla Show -- unlike most, he puts out a daily show of around 1 and a 1/2 to 1 and 3/4 hours. He's patterned it after his former radio show -- co-hosts, producers, drops, news etc. It's also completely uncensored, so he can say whatever the * he wants!
It's not a tin-pot show -- he's had guests that include Seth McFarlane and Francis Ford Coppola to name but two.

I'm a bit behind on Chris' show, so I have been listening to him for the past two weeks...

Making TCMS in to a podcast is easy. I use iPlayer downloader to get the show as a 128kbps MP3, then drag it to iTunes and "Get Info" to change the Options to podcast. I also add generic artwork, and if I can be bothered, sometimes I add in a photo of Chris and the guest if it's available. I usually do this 2-5 shows at a time, so it's easy.
Then, I drag the shows to my iPod. I now can't imagine listening to the show without being able to pause it or skip the news or a crap song...
You can also use Radio downloader which completely automates the process, but that had some glitches which I'm not sure they've fixed yet.

I use radio downloader too. It automatically converts the files to mp3, so to listen to them I can just drag and drop them into my phone (I don't use itunes), and they're also handy for if I get behind on the Tedious. For the past 2wks I've just been listening to bits of old shows - there are always bits I've missed, enough to pass my 45min journey to work. I have had a go at editing out the music and news from a show using wavepad, but it's time consuming and fiddly. I meant to talk to Johnny1989 actually about how he edits the old shows he uploads.

Technically, Radio Downloader just grabs the MP3 from the BBC -- there's no conversion (this is a good thing, as the MP3s are pretty good quality).

I recommend using MP3DirectCut for editing. It is lossless, meaning when you edit stuff, it doesn't get recompressed -- so you retain all the quality of the original file.
It takes a bit of time to get used to the editor, but once you do, you can do pretty fast edits.

Haha I barely listened to Mills at all in his two-week tenure! The brief bits I heard when switching stations was mainly him going on and on about his fecking Edinburgh one-man show. Does he talk about anything else?

Starting to dislike Moyles a bit for insisting on Mills covering his holidays... :(

Actually Westwood on the phone was amusing "when i say napa, you say aiya" "aiya" " ....." "oops i got that worng" LOL!!!

Is it ironic that Scott has to also promote Westwoods show from 4-7pm? The same time his show is on,youv've got to laugh sometimes.
