Sorry, I tried again but the first half hour, 2 songs already, thinking Jay Kay is still top of Top Gear leader board!!! that was about 6 years ago, Tina is not helping giggling at everything she on laughing gas, she finds everything funny. Going to switch off till Jay Kay, this is awful!!!

If you really think its that bad take it as a positive as it shows just how good Chris moyles is. I personally think Vernon is doing a particularly good job and putting his own little stamp on it while still keeping the bulk of the show the same.

I think it most unfair to criticise Vernon for not being as polished or as slick as Chris. He is standing in at a day's notice on a radio show that has upwards of 8 million listeners.

In my view, he ought to be commended for sticking with the format we all know and love and not doing what most stand-in presenters would do and fill the show with music.

I like Vernon.....he would be my first choice to replace Chris when the day comes that he leaves the breakfast show. I agree its not as good without Chris but I think Vernon is great and think they do have a good chemistry.

As for the top gear leader board......wasnt he top until the start of the last series when they got a new car?

Vernon has been back on top today, I think maybe the "sicky-sicky-poo-poo" thing was enough to wind me up completely yesterday. That, thankfully, seems to have gone and Vernon sounds great today. Also he was probably not feeling brilliant yesterday after a heavy weekend, and a call to do breakfast at the last minute - yesterday wasn't great, but anyone can have an off day. Vernon's lovely.

I could do without the best of guests thing being played, would this have been done if Chris was here?

I liked Aled's game, the crabs link was good and the start of the Jay Kay interview sounded great to me (turned off at 8:30)

I think Vernon's a half-wit, but I had the option of not listening to him today, which I took. What I'd really like is for Aled to explain the reason/s why Dave can't become the main presenter of the show on an occasion like this. It's hardly a massive challenge to be a sidekick to someone for over ten years and then to step into their shoes for a few days, and to me makes far more sense than bringing in a person who has no connection to the show.

If I were Dave I'd take not being chosen to drive the show as a massive insult, and a kick in the teeth from my bosses. Of course, we don't know whether Dave was asked to do it but didn't want to for some reason, but for me, I'd love to hear him run the show for a day. With Aled to help him he shouldn't be able to make too much of a shambles of it surely!

Anyway - Aled says there's no Vernon tomorrow, but a "special surprise" instead. I have to say I'd be happy for the rest of the team to run the show without a guest presenter, so hopefully that's the surprise.

Vernon is perfectly capable of carrying his own show, and while he can work with the format of the breakfast show, it just sounds a bit forced. Dave needs someone to bounce off, and there is just lacking in this aspect.

Purely as a radio fan, I would dream of Radio 1 bringing Chappers in to reunite with Dave for Thursday and Friday, because they have the kind of chemistry that Chris and Dave have. But I don't think this will happen.

On the EPG on Freeview it says that Sara cox is sitting in for fearne and Chris on Friday. Surely she has to drop out of one of them? But which one? Anyone know?

This is brilliant! Sara is the second best DJ on Radio 1 and it will be fascinating to see how she interacts with the team. Really looking forward to this. Will definitely make the effort to be up for 06:30.

I'm hoping they see reason and give Dave and the team to show what they can do, surley its finally there time, I am sure its something we can all agree on . Sorry but have to say I'm not the biggest sara cox fan, if shes in for fearne fine, anybody and his dog is better than her, but I have really liked sara, maybe less now than when she fu@ked up the breakfast show, was more annoying and made me tune away (until she finshed at 9am then came back for Simon Mayo etc). But still if she is in for fearne friday, good, in for chris, bad!!!! At least Vernon has buggered off.
