I like Vernon on his own show - his innocent enthusiasm shines through on a Saturday morning and with only a few hundred thousand people listening, it doesn't matter so much if he messes up. But Tuesday and Wednesday were car crash radio - with constant technical failures, breaks in conversation, the "sicky sicky poo poo" references and his obvious desire to be back in the Family Fortunes studio. Just look at the pic of him and Jay Kay on the front page of http://bbc.co.uk/chrismoyles/ - that's a pretty unrelaxed grimace that says a lot.
The team need a relaxed but firm leader at the helm, someone who has reasonable technical skills with the natural banter to keep the conversation going. Love her or hate her, Sara seems to have all of this and so the conversation flows in that usual mode of "let's talk about nothing but we'll make it very entertaining" (much like she does on Twitter). She's almost a female version of Chris IMHO. Oh how I wish she was in yesterday covering the Jay Kay interview, that could have been so much better with Sara doing it (but of course a different ballgame if the Chris were there).

Aled wrote:I'm sorry to those looking forward to hearing the fall out from the team taking the lead and doing the show without a lead presenter - but after Sara did such an amazing job today - we couldn't possibly risk such a car crash show tomorrow. All parties concerned felt the right thing to do after such a strong show would be for Sara to do the show again tomorrow.
We did have, what we hope was, a strong show planned with just the team tomorrow - and that day will come, but following today it's only right Sara sees the week out. There were so many effortless laughs today that Chris and the listeners deserve to have another guaranteed show like that tomorrow if it's possible.
Hope you enjoy. It'll be about the team though tomorrow with all the features planned for them we'll still use them.
The Golden Hour will be Dave's.

aww your naivety is actually quite cute!

I didn't miss Chris at all, and I am a huge fan of his. Sara is just so lovely and easygoing, she obviously listens to the show a lot and gets on well with the others, and so it all worked perfectly. I would still prefer to hear just the team on their own have a go tomorrow, purely for the novelty value. I don't know what Aled meant when he said 'that day will come', because if this is the first time Chris has been off sick in god knows how many years, they're unlikely to get the opportunity anytime soon! I wish Aled hadn't got my hopes up on that one.
