I was actually thinking that the other day and was gonna ask. I dunno he never spoke about her that much anyway i thought.

Yes, tis all ok, but Chris doesn't like to talk about her too much. Yes, its sometimes unavoidable to mention her in relation to a specific story, but as a general rule Chris like to keep Sophie (or Boo - as he affectionately calls her) to himself....

Thought the same myself, especially when he mentioned that his back was sore from sleeping on the couch.

Davina asked him if he was going to watch BB tonight with Sophie and I am sure he said he wasn't. That in itself doesn't mean anything, as she may simply be at work. But I assumed that Davina would know if he had split up with Sophie, and therefore wouldn't have asked the question.

But maybe Davina and Chris aren't really friends off air, and just pally with each other. It isn't really any of our business anyway, but I had noticed that Chris had hardly mentioned Sophie at all recently as well.

He mentioned Sophie on Wednesday.I think Patsy Kensit was asking him whether he'd be coming down to 'Strictly' and he said he went last year because Sophie was working on it, but this year she isn't, so he won't be going.

According to the Daily Fail....Moyles has dumped Sophie as he wasn't ready for marriage. Apparently she's very upset, and has moved into a friends' place for now.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/ar ... years.html

I hate the Daily Mail to its core...but if they have the facts right, such a shame!

Strangely...the 'source' also reveals that Moyles was so upset by splitting with Sophie, that he took a week off work and went back to Leeds to see his folks.

So it seems he wasn't ill when he took that week off!

Wonder who this 'source' is though.

I was just about to post that. What a coincidence that 'cl1ffer' comes and asks that right as a news story 'breaks' about Chris and Sophie. Hmmmm!

This is probably none of our business and if they have split up they probably dont want lots of people taking about it but i think it would be nice if maybe aled can clear it up for us then we can ignore any rumours that may be false.

Oh, it's not the first time we've had the 'is it any of of our business?' debate, believe me...

That is sad, but not a real surprise. I remember for years whenever a guest has been on the show and asked him why he isn't married he has always ended the conversation instantly and made it clear he wouldn't talk about it. And today with the caller on Raspberry he was saying about how mad he was to be married.

And there has just been something about Chris recently on air that made me think he was down in the dumps. It is sad news though, and for what its worth I hope he can move on and find whatever it is he wants or finds someone who wants what he does.

Notice how I didn't say whether it was solid fact or not :D

I'm wary of any newspaper 'exclusives'

Aled. If that was the real reason Chris had the week off, the blatant lying from the rest of the team doesn't sit easily with me. They could easily have said it was for personal reasons rather than making out he was puking his guts up etc. But then Daily Fail says he took a week off at the end of August to get over it, not last week. I can't remember if the team were on holidays then, but think they may have been. If that's the case then he quite possibly was genuinely ill last week, in which case I apologise for casting aspertions!

I'm not too surprised at the news, Chris always seemed a loooooong way off being ready for marraige and kids despite being with Sophie for so many years. It wasn't a good sign.

Well, it obviously isnt any of our business, but many things arent our business but we still comment on them. I dont see why this should be any different. I am quite sure everyone on here wishes him well.

Of course it is true.

I agree i think its true as well unfortunately. They are unlikely to make that up.

It is none of anyone's business why Chris had the week of work, ill or not it should just be accepted he's off. Chris shares more about his life on air than most, we shouldn't abuse this. If Chris is going through such a difficult time true fans of the show should be more concerned about Chris and how he is at the moment than saying how "lying doesn't sit well". I hope Chris is OK and wish him the very best.

I always think it's a total dick move by the papers to put breakups in papers. Especially when the people involved don't flaunt their relationship.

Even more of a dick move to publish it on a saturday, effectively removing chris's right of reply till monday.

I have just listened to today's raspberry again. Anyone doubting whether this is true should listen to that knowing what we now know. It was more the second time with the caller that he said "its her isn't it who took you away from us". And both times he talks about it Dave quickly jumps in as if to stop him talking.

@Thestig sorry cant quote atm but we aren't just saying about how they were lying i personally can see why. We do care about him and we hope he can get over it.

Personally I think it was perfectly ok that they lied, if indeed they did, about him being ill last week. They dont need to explain his every move to us. Its up to Chris what information he chooses to divulge.

When Aled broke up with his bf he was his usual very open and honest/overly sharing self about it on air, when he came back from a couple of days off he explained the whole situation straight away. If it was a different kind of show, which would cover most shows, then I wouldn't expect a presenter to talk about his personal life on air. But with the Chris Moyles Show being the kind of show it is, where all of their personal lives are discussed frequently, I somehow do. That's just my opinion. Obviously I wish Chris all the best too.

that was aled's choice. It was also dave's choice to keep quiet for months when his marriage broke up.

It's clearly chris's choice to keep quiet, and the mail and all the other papers should respect that.

Fat chance of that happening. Papers are hardly in the business of respecting peoples' privacy. If you're in the public eye then you're fair game, which Chris knows only to well. He clearly knew the story was going to come out, which makes me wonder why he'd chose to pretend to be ill when the real reason behind his absence was going to be revealed soon enough. Whatever happened to the new BBC complete transparency? (joke)

corsaboi wrote:It was also dave's choice to keep quiet for months when his marriage broke up.

The difference there was that they simply didn't mention his then wife on air at all, not that they did all that often anyway I seem to remember, they didn't use any 'misdirection' as Derren Brown would call it.

In relation to the actual story, it seems crazy to me to stay with someone for eight years if you have no intention of marrying them/staying with them forever, for me the cut off point would be more like two years! If this had happened to me I think I'd feel like I'd wasted years of my life. I do feel sorry for Chris, but more sorry for Sophie.

And before any sanctimonious person tells me off for commenting on Chris' personal life, this is a forum to talk about Chris Moyles related topics, both Aled's and Dave's break ups have been discussed here, as have happier issues such as Rachel's and Carrie's weddings and Carrie's baby, so I don't see any reason why we shouldn't pass comment on this story too.

It could be an interesting show on Monday.

Hi. I'm the sanctimonious person you talk of. Yes, this is a forum to talk about Moyles but why do you seem to be taking it so personally? Why do you feel it's your right to know about someones personal life? Whether this story is true or not, frankly it's got sod all to do with you, me or anyone that reads the Daily Mail. It's a radio breakfast show - I'd love for you to explain to me why who Chris is going out with needs to be explained by the BBC.

On top of that, who are you to judge when someone should or shouldn't get married?! Comment on chris's personal life all you want, but you've got a * up attitude in my opinion.
