Usually I would think people are looking too much into it, but people on here tend to be bang on the money about these sorts of things. I think it's really sad if it has happened. It's a devastating thing to happen in somebody's life, ending such a long term relationship. I guess we'll find out on monday whether it's true or not, because he'll probably talk about the story even if it isn't. Hope it isn't though.

foot-loose wrote:Hi. I'm the sanctimonious person you talk of. Yes, this is a forum to talk about Moyles but why do you seem to be taking it so personally? Why do you feel it's your right to know about someones personal life? Whether this story is true or not, frankly it's got sod all to do with you, me or anyone that reads the Daily Mail. It's a radio breakfast show - I'd love for you to explain to me why who Chris is going out with needs to be explained by the BBC.

On top of that, who are you to judge when someone should or shouldn't get married?! Comment on chris's personal life all you want, but you've got a * up attitude in my opinion.

And I'm taking it too personally? Which I assure you I'm not btw, I couldn't give a crap who Chris is or isn't with. He can shack up with James Corden for all I care. I never said it's my right to know about someone's personal life, that they should have made a big announcement telling us all that Chris was off because he'd broken up with his girlfriend. I said that being deliberately mislead doesn't sit well with me. They could easily have given no explanation for his absence other than he was unavailable that week. I just think lying makes them look stupid. I'm sure you don't feel the same way, but we're all entitled to our own opinions, as you've already stated above.

Chris is a well known person so of course his personal life is going to be in the media. I have't seen any threads on here with people complaining that Coleen Rooney's or Vernon Kay's or Tiger Woods' (I could go on and on) personal lives aren't any of the Daily Mail's or anyone else's business and shouldn't be discussed, so why should it be any different for Chris just because we like him? There are lots of perks of being famous but many downsides too, one of which is having your personal life exposed in the media and talked about by the general public, including on forums such as this. I was simply passing comment, no laws against that are there?

Finally, how was I judging when someone should or shouldn't get married? All I did was state my own personal preferences on that matter. What exactly have I got a * up attitude about?

Edit: Why the flip is the f-word starred out on here?

hmmmmm,
"Radio 1 DJ has dumped his girlfriend of eight years"

"Both Sophie and Chris are devastated"

Why would he be devastated if he dumped her?? Seems a bit odd to me (probably fake)

lgac123 @CHRISDJMOYLES you were punching well above your weight with sophie anyway.i've always thought you were gay lets wait and see shall we.

There are idiots everywhere. I was always more uncomfortable on this forum the closer the links got to the show because the tendancy is to moderate your comments if you know its possible the team will read it and criticise you on air (as has been done several times with Moyles moaning about threads on here). By moderate I don't mean not be offensive but be less critical.

lol, well please don't think i am at all any "Source of Information" I merely listen to the show every day and wondered why we have not heard mention Sophie for some time, that's all. Sorry to bring up all this other crap on this subject, didn't realise it would cause such a fuss. I might not post my next forum topic "is Aled really gay or is it an act?".

Well I'm shocked and sad even if no one else is. I hope both Chris and Sophie are ok.

i was skeptical of this thread when it popped up - and avoided it, but for some reason checked it today...then googled the story.

like yuds, i'm shocked and saddened. reports are that the illness was a front, and it would also explain the twitter silence. but it's not time for speculation.

i know this won't get to chris, and it's a topic that unfortunately won't be swept under the rug (on this forum at least, the papers will be over this by the evening). the demise of any long term relationship is sad especially as loving as theirs seemed to be. it seems noone has come out from this well, but i hope that both will be ok.

This would appear to be a bit of a first for me. I have read a Daily Mail article and then found myself actually agreeing with a lot of the comments, although almost every second person seems to have posted purely to express their shock that Chris is 'only 36'. There are still a few comments from the reliably hysterical Mail readers though, my favourite of which is 'This type of male is why women end up having babies in their forties'. Just going a tiny bit over the top there.

Emmy wrote:Aled. If that was the real reason Chris had the week off, the blatant lying from the rest of the team doesn't sit easily with me. They could easily have said it was for personal reasons rather than making out he was puking his guts up etc.

this might be because i'm half cut from last night still, and a bit angry from unrelated issues, but...

genuinely. shut up.

8 years, is a long time - and if the rumors are true and it was chris that broke up with sophie, surely the last things he'd want would be to create speculation about his personal life. that the papers have only just released the story shows that chris managed to keep it quiet for a while. the last thing anyone would want after being broken up with would be to be reminded of it (which is an inevitability with the media), but come on! IF he took a week off for this reason, it'd show how much he was affected. aled even emphasized that chris never takes time off for illness.

Emmy wrote:When Aled broke up with his bf he was his usual very open and honest/overly sharing self about it on air, when he came back from a couple of days off he explained the whole situation straight away.

because some people are very open about their private lives, and don't mind everyone knowing their business. i'd say i fall into this category - but there are many of my friends who keep things to themselves, even if they're quite serious. one of my closest friends is like this, and i wouldn't classify him as dishonest. if a friend was going through a bad time, and suddenly was a bit reclusive - and i was told to keep it to myself and not let on that anything was wrong, that's exactly what i'd do.

sorry, it just made me quite angry.

and this has probably been covered and apologised for, in which case i apologise myself for bringing up dead material.

Nice manners you have there. If you can tell me to shut up, does that mean I can tell you to * off?

chrysostom wrote:aled even emphasized that chris never takes time off for illness.

Are you saying he was hinting that wasn't the real reason?

chrysostom wrote:sorry, it just made me quite angry.

That's ok, go with the anger.

a) feel free to tell me to * off, i was being rude - and as such you' have the right to be rude back.
b) i'm just saying that aled made it clear that it would take extraordinary circumstances for chris to take time off. which is massive speculation which i said it was not the time for. shame on me.
c) thanks :)

Thanks to you too. I'm really enjoying the verbal sparring on this forum. It makes it so much more fun when you're 'up against' people who have intelligence, a good vocabulary, the ability to use correct grammar and spelling, and who make sensible points. This doesn't happen with the numbskulls who inhabit a lot of forums. Until the next time then.

It's a shame but I hope they will both be happier from it.

I think if they did 'lie' about him being sick then fair enough, people don't ask questions about someone that says they are ill but if they said personal problems listeners would want to know and some might feel it is their right to know what personal problems are going on. We're not his friends, we're his fans and he doesn't have to be open about anything with us.

Depends on what you're doing. ;)

It now makes sense to me why Chris never mentioned this story from the DM a few days ago http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/ar ... ds-newsxml. When I didn't hear him congratulating Little Miss MOOOOOOORNING! during a handover, especially since her spokesperson had confirmed the story so it's presumably true, I thought I had dreamt up the whole story (and dreaming about one of the most irritating women ever would be a very worrying sign indeed) and was going mad. I couldn't bring myself to listen to her show to hear if she talked about it herself. Now it appears there was a good reason why Chris and the team didn't say anything.

pm me for my home address, and a flattering picture of me riding a tiger. bareback.

it's still just the daily mail's article that is doing the rounds - usually it would have been reported elsewhere by now.

It's a sad day for Chris and Sophie and my thoughts go out to them both. I am not surprised that Chris is "devastated" whether he ended it or not. He seems to me to be a genuine and emotional chap and probably may have been happy to plod along in the relationship but may well have been backed into a marriage decision which forced his hand. That would be devastating.

Sad as it is, I have friends who have been in this situation and then had a break, got back together and then married & lived happy ever after. I have also had friends who have ended after a long time of no progression, met someone else then quickly done the kids and babies thing with the new person - it often happens.

I guess we all feel a bit sad for them as we feel we know Chris; some of us spend up to 10 hours a week with him and his team :) So I wish them both well and hope that time heals either way.

Interesting though: I do actually believe the Mail story but something dimtimjim said on Friday made me doubt it:

dimtimjim wrote:Yes, tis all ok, but Chris doesn't like to talk about her too much. Yes, its sometimes unavoidable to mention her in relation to a specific story, but as a general rule Chris like to keep Sophie (or Boo - as he affectionately calls her) to himself....

I assume there is insider info here as this is quite an assured statement. Anyone know different including dimtimjim?

Happy weekend everyone.

With the gordon smart sun story last year, he said that sara nathan who was then at the sun, really had it in for him. And it's her name at the top of this story.

also quite interestingly, nobody else is touching this, the only other news site is digital spy, which is just repeating the mail's claims. Either the media are actually respecting privacy or there's something up.

I remember him saying that, but I had forgotten the name. That does add an element of doubt, but by the same token , she could also take great delight in breaking this story and making him even unhappier.
